Ian Fisher writes: One thing we have received that’s related Resident Evil is a plethora of info for Resident Evil: Retribution, the fifth live-action Resident Evil movie. So instead of RE6 we get news on a crappy movie franchise where the arsehole director/writter actually thinks his movies are good and he's doing justice to RE fans and gamers.

"Resident Evil: Retribution will find Alice (Milla) on the search for Chris Redfield (Wentworth Miller), his sister Claire (Ali Larter) and K-Mart (Spencer Locke) as they’ve all been captured by the Umbrella Corporation"

Oh look at that.....it's another Alice is here to save the day plot.

What massive "RE fan" or "gamer" does this to characters like Chris and Claire by letting them get captured. Paul dosen't even respect the characters. Why does Chris and Claire have to rely on Alice to save them.

Anyway who really cares for Barry and Leon in this film, they'll probably get into trouble and Alice will save them like whats happened to every other character in this film.

"Milla did confirm that actor Shawn Roberts will be reprising his role and I couldn’t be happy since I thought he nailed the role in Resident Evil: Afterlife"

LOL...nailed the role. Are you kidding me, he was crap

"Resident Evil: Afterlife was a step in the right direction as to what a RE movie should be like and feel so one can hope the creative team of the new flick expands upon those concepts"

Right direction, are you kidding me....it got worse, there were characters from the game which Paul obviously didn't respect because as I've said he made it so Alice saves the day, somethings were just thrown in there like he saw the trailer of RE5 and thought it would be cool (Executioner appareing without any reason) and the 3D made it into one big slow mo fest....honestly the amount of slow mo and things popping at you from the screen was un real, they may aswell of put the fights in full slow mo at that rate. To think it was the right direction for what a RE film should be like.....I'm sorry but that's just crazy talk

The only people I know who like the films are the ones who have never played the games. I get mad everytime someone thinks that the "amazing" stuff they see in the film is taken from the game.......

<sigh> I hate Paul W.S Anderson

Rant over...

I still don't understand how anyone tards could have liked those movies.well..practically always, video game-to-movie translations go horribly wrong..

FlashXIII5025d ago

Paul W.S Anderson has done some good movies.. I don't see why he treats the RE franchise so badly. I blame hollywood more so though.. I mean think about it, RE movies are crappy little action romps with zombies which probably make a nice bit of money so they don't see the point in changing.

If any movie ever needed a reboot, it's this stinker. Only way that will ever happen is when it stops bringing in the $$.

"Paul W.S Anderson has done some good movies.. I don't see why he treats the RE franchise so badly."

Especially since he did a pretty good job with the Mortal Kombat movie. Yeah it was cheesy, but at least it stayed true to the games. Which is more than can be said for the RE movies. :/

FlashXIII5024d ago

Event Horizon was good also.

oldfriend865025d ago

Oh, dear God, NO!

I knew about the cliffhanger ending during RE4, but seriously, just stop making movies.

WitWolfy5025d ago (Edited 5025d ago )

Afterlife was an abortion but lets hope the next movie makes up for that. The only part I REALLY enjoyed was the Wesker fighting scene ,now that left me speechless!

FlashXIII5025d ago

I thought the fight scene was awful. It was as if the makers watched the Matrix like 10 times and thought of ways they could possibly recreate the cool bits but instead of doing it properly gave it to a bunch of film students to do.

fastNslowww5025d ago

Who gives the green light for this shit? srsly!

It's hard to understand how these movies are enjoyable, sure for those who don't really care for the RE games, but overall the movie is so mediocre it isn't even funny. Expecially when its praised for being close to the video games.

sikbeta5025d ago

The green light comes from the crapload of money they make in theaters + Blu-Ray and DVD sales, the movies make more money than the games lol

Armsgraph5025d ago

wow look at all these negative comments and we see why theres hardly any good video game movies cause all the people who claim they can do better are all sitting here sneering at some ones movie thats only loosely based off of its video game counterpart.i guess I'm one of the few that sees the movie as one of the better videogame movies out there.it could be worst it could be one of those streetfighter movies over and over so ill take Paul's RE series happily

WitWolfy5025d ago

I agree but RE Afterlife really left me disappointed. Where RE,2 and 3 totally rocked my world. I dont know Afterlife didnt have soul compared to the earlier movies. Chris Redfield was a disappointment not to mention Claire almost having the same powers as Alice in the bathroom with that dude with the AXE.

Plus how can one "evolve" then all of a sudden de-evolve by a simple syringe, That means I might as well make a sophisticated compound that de-evolves humans back to apes even after years of evolution. I remember seeing the same in X-men 3 and stood up and walked out. What a bunch of hog wash

Ex-Naughty Dog Dev Says Resident Evil 4 Inspired Uncharted and Many More Action Games

Former Naughty Dog dev says Resident Evil 4 inspired Unchartted and even Gears of War, particularly the over-the-shoulder camera view.

CrimsonWing6934d ago

It revolutionized third-person shooters, in a genius way that gives you full control of aiming.

CrimsonWing6934d ago

No, I mean RE4. Like the whole snap to over-shoulder and precision aiming was what I meant.

I won’t deny Winback does pave the way in some respect. But it’s not the same at all.

InUrFoxHole34d ago

Both are great series. That's awesome

Samonuske34d ago

I thought this was common knowledge. Resident Evil Revolutionised over the shoulder aiming in 3rd person shooters/action games

italiangamer34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

Influenced basically every third person action game made after it, GTA uses the over the shoulder perspective when shooting since the 4th installment, Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2 too and the Batman Arkham series has the over the shoulder perspective as the main camera throughout the whole game series.
Obviously there are a ton more examples but you get the point 🗿.

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Levii_9243d ago

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil43d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

__y2jb43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
