M$ fanboys hate for everything Sony has blinded them to these facts DJ. Now these same fanboys hate everything and everyone who ever has anything to do with Sony. They even critize awesome developers who make Sony exclusives. Seriously I think these same M$ fanboys support medicore technology that doesn't have the means to push technology for the better. The more they support this and give there money to companies who don't think out the box to create consoles, games, and accesories that push the limits to where we never thought possible, the more they will hurt themselves. Yes I am an somewhat of an elitist because I refuse to live in the standard, I awlays strive to live above it. I support those people/companies that choose to push this industry to places where developers have the tools/space/technology to make truly epic games.

Who believes this crap? My Xbox 360 will not cure cancer, and the PS3 will not end world hunger. Why should you care if a part of the PS3 will be used in another piece of hardware when you are buying it!? It's not like this supercomputer will be coming up with new and interesting ideas for videogaming. As a gamer, this supercomputer means nothing to me.

It should not be used as propaganda to sell the damn console.

Not really, believe whatever you wish, Cell is an incredibly powerful chip. Infact, it may be up there in top 5 most powerful, if not top 3.

I personally think it's cool that video games are pushing technology further and further. Why do we need faster processors? Not for Windows. We need them so we can get good looking, smooth running games with tons of stuff going on in the background that we as gamers probably don't even know about, simply so we can be entertained. The fact that we as gamers push the technological boundaries to the point that others would use for a super computer technology that was created with us in mind is really cool. Let's keep up the pressure to innovate products for us that can be used on important things as well. Long live the video game industry.

ZOMG. IBM spent a bajillion on developing the cell processor architecture and now their using it in something other than a video game system? Unbelievable! we better write a news story on it. The cell isnt a chip, its a type of chip architecture. Its like saying my dreamcast used an intel chip and intel chips are on the space shuttle. Downs child.

I wouldn't want it to be either, I mean I will get wowed when a supercomputer runs with 1 or 2 processors but several thousand, please, give me a break, I could build a supercomputer too, if I had 30,000 processors. Cell will get trampled with quad core processors anyway, have you guys heard about the new motherboard where you can run 2 quad core processors, talk about some AI.

I could, I have a degree in electrical engineering and I could design motherboards to run these processors, I have already designed several motherboards for several companies. See, this is what happens when you go to college, you can do things the TRUTH can't. Like I said before with 30,000 processors I could build a supercomputer. Biznitch
