DICE: Battlefield players "upset" and "suspicious" over free DLC

Thing is though they should've been reconfigured from the beginning - doesn't make sense when they withhold certain modes on certain maps and they unlock them as DLC later because people who bought used copies weren't eligible for the DLC.

Sure you can defend it that way if you like. But Dice and EA clearly made out the "free" maps DLC offering as though they were going to be different new maps. Hell even BF1943 did a better job with their one free map than BFBC2. Coral Sea was the right way to do this...not here the same map "at night".

@Tachyon_Nova... THANK YOU! Their "free" maps in BFBC2 were the biggest scam ever. Here is the same map..now for TDM or conquest and its free!! Gee...what did that take you all of 5min to remove the rush points and readjust the "invisible" death boundaries. Or...This one was day light...now look how cool that same map is with the night time and its free! I was so jaded with DICE for a while. I loved BFBC2 but their maps were not great.

Even Vietnam for me while cool for a bit got old fast and it was annoying in that it had what...3 maps? And to play vietnam you had be in a seperate lobby...so litterally you just played the same thing over and over.

Where I live it normally is that way for a couple months. I remember preordering the limted edition BC2, but if I go into the shops now (how many months after release?) there it is still in its limited edition packaging. Same goes for games like deus ex I can walk into any local store and get the explosive mission pack etc...

people were mad because the game already had the maps on the disk, it wasn't really new content. I'm not complaining but DICE did that because they began working on MOH's multiplayer and they needed some time. Then Vietnam came out.

That's bullshit. Many people like myself pre-ordered BF:BC2 because of the promise of NEW MAPS as DLC for free, not an altered version of the maps we already had.

I would have NEVER bought the game for $60 bucks had I known that's the crap they were going to pull and it's that very reason I won't be giving them anymore of my cash.

Besides, I got both map packs for mw2 for $15, so your point there is mute. That was 6 new maps and 4 "altered" maps for $15 bucks. Hell of a deal if you ask me.

Mw2 was off the top of my head forgot about kz2 and I don't care lol they probably do and if you skip it, again sounds personal we all have our reasons to skip games. Being mad about lackluster free maps doesn't seem like a good reason IMO. If your ganna skip it that's fine in your eyes it's a good reason in mines it's not and for the mw2 thing I still don't think it's a fair pricing I didn't even pay for one of the blips maps just not worth my money.

it was BS and they know it. they had lots of maps but only like 3 were playable with TDM. The DLC just unlocked the maps and made the others TDM playable one at a time ,etc. It was stupid and made the game die quicker for me since i played a lot in the first month.

Technically speaking, it wasn't "free" and that's the issue. You had to buy it new, or you had to buy the online pass which both stated "comes with free DLC"

Its like buying an online pass like Rockstars and all they do is change a map or area and call it a day. Anything dramatic that they changed or actually added to the game you had to pay for.

But in all honesty I expected that. Why would they give out anything for free when they can bank on it all? I expect no different from BF3. Few tweaked "free" maps, followed by actual DLC you have to pay for. It just sucks that EA is not only going to pull an Activision and have an abundance of DLC, but they are also shoving that crappy online pass down our throats with it. I think paying 10 to 15 dollars for frequent maps would be enough to support the online experience....

DICE: For Battlefield, we're going to give you new maps but they will be retooled versions of the maps on the disc and modified for new game modes. But they will be free.

Yes. Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops DLC included maps that were reused from MW1 and World at War, respectively.

I think the point thats being missed is that these "map packs" or whatever you want to call them were already on the disc. They were paid for , and released later as DLC. So there was only vietnam that was really a map pack. All the unlocks were there, just held back.

If they do the same with BF3 i'll be getting rid of the game, cause i dont see how its ok for me to pay for a game, and have stuff held back and givin to me later when THEY decide they wanna "release" it as a fake DLC pack.

I think this is great, more of the fact that they will continue giving away free stuff. And they will release the maps for free at a later date, can't you just enjoy the 9 maps you get already? C'mon people, it's for free! Best things in life are for free!
It's just to give people an incentive to buy the game at launch (and give BF3 more marketing, because if more people buy the game at launch it looks more successful).

BFBC2 was crap on the DLC side. Release all the basic game modes. Onslaught/vietnam ok, but don't drizzle out some game modes on maps I already have. F*ck em for that. Good game though.
