Nymag.com writes, "We've got more bad news for the TV and film industries - this week sees the release of Super Mario Galaxy for the Nintendo Wii, the first proper Mario adventure since 1996's Super Mario 64, and very possibly the greatest game in the history recorded time. Vulture predicts that by the time the Writers Guild strike is finally resolved, Americans will have quit their jobs, stopped attending movies, and devoted their lives exclusively to the completion of Mario Galaxy. So how will Hollywood win them back? Simple: they'll have to make movies based on video games. And not just the crappy kind they've been pumping out for the past decade - good ones! Hitman (based on the PC shooter) hits theaters next week and, well, we're not getting our hopes up. But we've made a list of a few we'd like to see, along with the filmmakers we think might do them justice. After the jump, our list of the Ten Video Games That Should Be Movies (and the Directors Who Should Make Them!)"

Golden Axe is a great game I enjoyed it on the SMS, Genesis and in the arcade. Great game but it truly was a quarter eater back in the day. I wish Sega could get the rights to the arcade port of Moonwalker another great arcade game I enjoyed. Collect so many monkeys and become Robo Michael lol.
GB: "With this feature, we will be taking a look at 15 of the best games from the PlayStation 2's vast library."
Toyohashi, Japan is set to host a large-scale Monster Hunter event to celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary, complete with themed hotel accommodations.
- Mario ? I hope not.
- World of Warcraft is in the making, but giving it to von Trier would not be a clever idea. I think the should`ve made a CGI instead of a live one, but too late i`m afraid :(
- MGS, should be here, even though that too is in the making. I would also have liked to see this in CGI instead of what`s coming. I know Uwe Boll isn`t making it (thank God, or Kojima rather), but i hope they have someone who knows how to make movies. I fear it may turn out pretty crappy, and that i will see it anyway ;)
God of War
Halo Series
MGS
Heavenly Sword (it was almost a movie already)
Bioshock
Shodow of the Collosuss
They've already made a Mario movie and it sucked. I hope they don't head down that path again.
Superb find and some hilarious descriptions. Second Life film with Lynch, Super Mario Galaxy with Kelly...
Deus Ex
Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy should be a movie. I also think Folklore would make an awesome movie too something in the vein of Pan's Labyrinth meets Tim Burton. For the reverse I've always wanted to see a game based on Dark City.
