Re-Dubz Pillories the Dead Island “Feminist Wh**e” Controversy

GameFront, "Since hitting shelves on Tuesday, Techland’s zombie-basher Dead Island has provided an object lesson in how not to release a video game. First there was the amusing, embarassing revelation that the company had accidentally released an Xbox 360 dev-kit instead of the real game. Next, an eagle-eyed purchaser found an triggerable ability called “Feminist Whore” buried deep in the game’s unfinished code."

Is it really a controversy? Some employee thought he was being funny and got caught. Doesn't sound like a controversy to me..

Indeed, avoid the site, the article and its rediculousness.

If I were to rate this controversy on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 = Absolutely no one cares & 10 = Hot Coffee) I'd give it a 2. Because more than likely the Devs care about this more than anyone else.

Now... can we got on to more important things?

MysticStrummer2750d ago

Exactly. How about the fact that there are more bugs than zombies in the PS3 version? That, I care about.

Miiikeyyy2750d ago

What PS3 version are you playing? My Dead Island got patched day 1 (9th of Sep in the UK) and haven't had any bugs other than my game not saving 1 time

That was pretty good using Rsistance 3, I wonder if it will become something like the hitler dubed videos.

Feminism may have been about social, political, and economic equality for the sexes once upon a time, but modern day feminism is really just one big anti-male campaign. Feminists have become what they once opposed.

ChrisW2749d ago (Edited 2749d ago )

Okaaaay... that was more about using schema as a basis 'for' or 'against' a situation (i.e. poverty), listening to what others have to say instead of saying "STFU and listen to me!", and that the author realizes that his opinion is not universal, meaning that he should think before he opens his mouth and makes an arse out of himself over something that he has little to no correlation with.

Which doesn't seem very relevant to what Pro_TactX was saying, if you ask me. Unless you're stating that he shouldn't say such unless he has experienced what it is like to be a woman struggling in a crass and harsh chauvinistic environment... But I don't think that was your aim.

Just out of curiosity, how did you come about that article? Because you are fascinated with the subject... or was it simply a Google search?

sorceror1712749d ago

Well, actually, I *was* implying that maybe Pro_TactX could benefit from checking out the experiences of women in various environments. As a simple experiment, try gaming for a while with a female name.

The *other* implication is that maybe he could try looking into 'feminism' beyond blog reports about it.

As to how I found the article... it was linked from another blog:
