Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed is not a perfect game. It is an excellent one no doubt, with extremely high production values, some startlingly effective new approaches to gameplay and a lengthy narrative set within a massive free-roaming landscape filled with collectibles of all types and flavors. Many of the flaws apparent in preview sessions of the game have been addressed and even eliminated. It may not be perfect, but Assassin's Creed is more worthy of your $60 than many of the other games released and still to come during this holiday season. UGO gives Assassin's Creed an overall score of B+.
This should make fans and collectors very happy. PureArts & Ubisoft Announce Assassin’s Creed Hunt for the Nine 1/6 Scale Diorama Assassin's Creed Hunt for the Nine 1/6 Scale Diorama available for pre-order on January 25.
AC3 was released during a turbulent transition period for Ubisoft and the Assassin's Creed series. It ventured into uncharted territory, narratively and mechanically, which caused it to receive mixed reviews. At its core, though, it's a damn good stealth game.
Nope, I hated 3, connar was bland, literally the most flat character in the entire game. Not to mention to myriad of bugs, camera issues, and that annoying thing where he automatically ditches his weapon you payed for for the sake of a cool finishing move forcing you to trek back to your base after almost every encounter just to re-equip your own weapon. It just didn't work as fluidly as the others like 2 and 4
The series peaked at AC3 for me. It’s been my favourite in the series. Connor will always be one of my favourite video game protagonists.
No. Game was BORING. Connor was really dull. Environments, while impressive, because of the geographic location and time period were not really exciting to be in. I would love some kind of game set in there colonial American time period, but a game like AC that back then centered around parkour and vertical traversal really didn't fit those environments.
Nope
There was a lot of issues but mine is how they handled the war
They told us Connor was not going to get involved, that the war was more of a background setting for the real story and it wasn’t going to be one sided
They lied, even the cinematic E3 trailer showed Connor emerge from the Colonist side and slaughter the red coats to get to his target, inspiring the Colonists to fight back
I just thought it would have made more sense lore wise that the red coats were mostly compiled of Assassins fighting the Colonist templars who wanted to take the new world for themselves.
Since the Red coats lost the war, it would then explain how the Templars started to gain the upper hand and how on the future the assassins were mostly killed off and the Templar’s had pretty much taken over everything.
Instead it just felt like they didn’t want to p*** off the American audience
Even Haytham was cool, he should have been an Assassin through and through and should have been the main lead.
I’m one one of those weird people that liked Ass Creed 3, but to be fair I never got around to finishing it.
There are good video game protagonists, and there are bad video game protagonists.
I disagree that max is unlikable. Chloe is infinitely more unlikable in my opinion.
Most of these aren't even that bad. Especially comparing to others like Squall "Whatever" Leonhart, Forspoken's Frey, and the guy from Atomic Heart.
i had to stop reading after the "blatant misogyny" in the Dantes inferno section.
i actually liked Max haha.
the forspoken chick is missing tho
Personally I love this game!
A+ is my book. What do you all think?
I would suggest renting. Played it for 3 hours last night, it doesnt deserve a score above a 7.5 at most.
i went to my gamestop last night thinking if i should get the game because of the mixed reviews but then i ended up buying it..
so i was playing it and the beginning is really boring because its mostly explaining who the assassin is and shows why some parts of the game take place in present day, and a tutorial and stuff...once you actually get to explore though the game is awesome..the horseback riding to the city just to assassinate someone is more fun when youre actually doing it instead of watching videos..the controls took a little getting used to because you have 2 arm buttons, a legs button and a head button but once you get the controls down its fun...u can pickpocket people, eavesdrop on coversations, beat the crap out of people for info and the world is so damn lifelike...thats what got me, theres like at least 15-25 people onscreen at once depending on where you are and they all seem to do their own thing...some travel in packs i noticed like women carrying pots on their heads, some people sit on a bench and read...its awesome
im gonna go back and play it now
Granted I have only had the game for a day and have play roughly 4 hours I have to admit I am really liking this game.
The first thing you notice about the game is the graphics. Wow! They have really spent some time and created a world that is unlike anything you have ever seen before.
The draw distance is amazing and the details are far and beyond anything else out there. UBISOFT is well known for graphical engines and they have done one AMAZING JOB!
The characters, the buildings, the small details are incredible!
Climbing around is one of the coolest things I have ever seen! Makes you think you can go outside to the nearest rock and start jumping and climbing! People, THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME!
The story is way different than what I originally thought! Without saying anything about the story to give it away, I never thought a sci-fi twist would or could exist in this sort of setting and so far it is very gripping and I am dying to know more.
The main character you play as is a complete bad ass! Any time you can walk around and assassinate someone on the street in such a cool fashion.....PURE JOY! haha
The gameplay really shines in this game. The system that they have developed is a real step forward and you can see that in the future, possibly the next game they have a lot of room to do some really cool things!
As it is now, the gameplay is great! Sword fighting and weapon fighting is awesome! I never back down from a fight and I love doing the combos and counters. For one, it looks freaking awesome and the amount of control you have is amazing.
This game could be a button masher for some, but it can also be completely skill based. There is much to learn even though I am in about fours into the game, I have progressed a lot. I can't wait to see what I learn next.
Before I got this game, I was wondering how easy it would be to run around and climb and all that....well, it is fantastic! No problems at all. It does what you tell it to do and assists you on the crazy stuff. I know if I was running across a board that is 30 feet above the ground, I will fall off in a heart beat so it is nice that it assists you with this.
That may sound weird but it isn't, great control!
The sounds is great but not perfect. Most will not notice any so of problems. I notice that when conversations are talking place, there is a little of hiss to it. I have a great sound system that really brings out everything. The sound really is great, don't get me wrong.
So many sounds, voices, birds and who not. If the minor hiss wasn't there it would be perfect. Close though.
I am going to run and play some more. A friend of mine got the game yesterday and he loves it! i think you all will too!
With so many reviews out right now, all saying something different. Either they say it is a GEM, next gen title or they say it is a 7 on a scale of 10. I say, it is a 9+. Of course, with only 4 hours into it this may change I just don't see how.
More to come.
then you do the counter when hes attacking you and you have a freaking badass movie scene taking place in front of you. The fighting can be soo fluid and badass if you learn the moves properly. thats why I love it soo much.
