Dead Island Review |

Set in an open world tropical island, hordes of different festering zombies wait around every corner as you embark on various missions all set around an island Holiday resort. With firearms and ammunition incredibly scarce you must rely on discovering and utilising items as weapons for self-defense and fighting off zombie hordes in intense melee combat. A diverse range of items can be collected and used to transform your ordinary makeshift weapons into serious instruments of destruction.

Have to say I feel lik this is a more or less accurate view on the game.

Buggy, but really fun. Also it's nice to see another zombie lover has reviewed this game. One of the few reviews that doesn't spend most the review moaning about the bugs and actually talks about the positives in the game and talks about it with an open mind.

I'm a zombie lover and it's a highly disappointing game to me. I can see ignoring a few bugs, but this is hands down the buggiest mess I've ever played.

Just bought this today. I'm in the middle of a zombie movie marathon (about to watch Zombie flesh eaters aka zombi 2 which practically is this game in cheesy 70's movie format) but later on I'll be drinking and hacking up some zombies myself. I'm not expecting a technically well made game but as a zombie fanatic I'm sure I'll get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

"The missions are well thought out and although quite a few involve you running from point A to Point B beating off hordes of undead zombies"

You can't really fault them for that. Sex sells, it's just the way the industry is going.

lol @ "well thought out". It's standard Go to A, Get or Kill B, and Return to A business. I can't believe the positive reviews this is getting. This is the buggiest game I've ever played, and I've been gaming since before the Atari 2600. I love anything that has to do with zombies, but this game should not have been released in this state. Even without the bugs, it's very repetitive. I'd give it a 6.5 or so.

Its not about the bugs, nor the missions, its about the experience, this game gives off a very different feel then most other games, i've been gaming since atari too, and its def not repetitive as you say, its got a cornucopia of different missions you can do, not all are the same, the main mission is different, the side quests are sorta the same a little bit, but it makes up for it with the beautiful landscapes, and countless of edge of the seat zombie killing moments. The audio is superb too!, I still freak out when I hear a butcher or thug zombie scream and growl. lol.

Well said. X360 version as well. I think most of the flaws are momentary visual pop-ins, and it still looks amazing most of the time.

It sure isn't the buggiest game I've ever played, far less buggy than New Vegas, and about on par with Fallout3 (my favorite game).

I love this game!!!

I never would have thought comparing it to Borderlands co-op, and Fallouts3 looting/ weapon creation, but it does seem fitting.

We still haven't got the "day1 patch".

I seem to be able to overlook the visual flaws (which are momentary, and the game is otherwise beautiful), I haven't encountered anything near game breaking.

I never played Dead Island before the patch, But from what I've played so far (Just got the game today) it seems far less buggy than people have said. Texture poppins are the only real problem tbh

The only problem I ever had with Fallout 3 is that it froze a few times, and I didn't like it enough to play New Vegas. I just lost a good chunk of my day because the game didn't autosave like it was supposed to. This is the second time that's happened. I also found another bug that kept me from getting a quest reward, which happened to be a weapon making mod. Maybe myself and my friend are the only ones having multiple issues with this game but I find that hard to believe. If these things weren't happening to both of us in single player and co-op, I'd write them off as online hiccups. I'm not saying I've played every game there is to play in this world but I do stand by what I said about this being the buggiest game I've ever played by far. I really wanted to like this game, but I wish I hadn't bought it.
