Game Informer: It's been a slow summer for big game releases, but this week we've got three. We start things off with some serious bad vibes, as Dan Ryckert comes on to elaborate on his less-than-positive review of Insomniac's Resistance 3, which has earned him some new haters on the Internet. Host Matt Helgeson is there to guide the discussion, and Andy Reiner stops by to basically heckle Dan. It's a good segment. Next up is what looks to be the breakout new IP of the year, the excellent co-op zombie survival title Dead Island. Even if you're sick of the industry's zombie trend, this is a game that deserves your attention, and Reiner, reviewer Tim Turi, and Jeff Marchifava will tell you why. Finally, Reiner earns the "Podcast Power Player Award" for being on all three segments, tell us about the supremely wacky and surprisingly good Driver: San Francisco. This game has a premise for the ages, believe it.
We might be in the age of remasters, but it doesn't look like the Dead Island 2 devs believe remaking the original game is the right move for the series.
but remakes require far less effort for these companies and they can still charge $70 for them!
Feel like everyone makes fun of Skyrim re-releasing like 18 times yet applaud these remasters elsewhere. Would much prefer NEW games
Making sequels really is the way to go. Otherwise we'll be stuck playing only the first entry, forever!!!
Immersed Gamer writes: "Ubisoft came out with the announcement that some of their classic titles are shutting down their servers. While this is not entirely surprising, the next bit is quite shocking. As Ubisoft states in regard to many of said classic games, “additionally, the installation and access to DLC will be unavailable”.
The wording is a little vague, so the actual paid DLC could be safe. But it doesn’t change the fact that multiplayer modes of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Rayman Legends, and Driver San Francisco will surely be missed. Especially since no alternative exists in many of those cases. This happens to unveil right next to our story where I essentially beg Atlus to port SMT to modern consoles alongside Persona.
Seems like videogame preservation is on the down-low…"
And you want us to go all digital? This is the bull sh*t that makes me apprehensive to an all digital future. You corpo guys don’t understand game preservation or it’s importance.
Companies who withdraw support should be legally made to patch games to enable the 'owner' to create and host their own MP lobbies. This is theft
There are some epic PlayStation Plus Premium shooters, from Naughty Dog's Uncharted series to the high-stakes action of Doom published by Bethesda.
