EU PS Plus gets Ratchet & Clank beta… now

Without any official announcement from the developer or Sony (although there were rumblings last month), a multiplayer beta for Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One has gone live on the EU PSN Store. It plays really well, just like your average ratchet and clank game...I thought the gameplay might suffer but it's fun.

The 3D effects are ok too but the graphics are poor...no-where near the usual polish of insomniacs usual fair. I'm praying that it's because it's a beta and this will be sorted...if it is they've got themselves a sale. Had no interest in it b4 but it's won me over.

I doubt it's a so-called "beta" and really more of a demo (although that's the case with most "betas" these days I guess compared to the way it used to be) but pretty cool. It's stuff like this that make Insomniac awesome, they don't need to piss around announcing announcements of announcements or anything, they'll just give you something out of the blue if they want to.

the game is over a month away from release, it will be a beta as they will be testing online gameplay and fixing and changing as they go along before final release. Thats what a beta is isn't it? and for a game like this especially online is paramount.

But we agree on one thing Insomniac is awesome, though I'm still not convinced on this R&C game as a massive fan of the series.

I know what you mean but it's a fairly simple co-op game, I can't really imagine the servers will need to be tested massively or that they will be strained so much in this game. DICE did something similar with BFBC2 for example in releasing an online demo for the game on PSN and XBL around a month before release which obviously gives people a taste for it and also gives them an idea of how their servers are going to cope, but I think it's more about publicity than anything myself.

I agree myself too about All4One. When I first heard of it I liked the idea, but I didn't think it was going to be a full title, I expected a downloadable title of the length of Quest for Booty or something. It doesn't seem massively impressive to me either since all characters are basically just different skins (obviously some have different weapons but there isn't a massive difference). I've kind of fallen out of love with R&C since the PS2 days, nothing has matched R&C1-3 for me, especially the PS3 games but everyone else seems to enjoy them, maybe I'm just getting a bit bored of the series or something.

haha yea, nothing beats Going Commando for me, the best R&C game and probably one of the best platformers ever. I see what you're saying and no doubt that this will be for boosting interest in the game by giving people a chance to play a piece of it but its still a beta but yea its a moot point now, I mean either way its a good thing.

I really am worried about All4One though, I just haven't seen anything on it that made me excited like any of the other main R&C titles, PS3 ones included and the more I see the less convinced I am its a proper R&C game and more I'm convinced its just a high production value family minigame collection.
