Assassin's Creed Gets 4.4/5 from CCC: Cinematic Visuals, Engaging storyline & Ingenious Gameplay

The wait is finally over, and Ubisoft Montreal has released the much anticipated Assassin's Creed. Cinematic visuals, an engaging storyline, and ingenious gameplay make this one of the greatest titles for the next-gen consoles to date. However, this game may not be for everyone. The story is quite engaging, but the pacing can be rather slow at times. Additionally, the controls, while easy to use, are not quite as agile as one would like them to be. In any case, all of you who have been anxiously anticipating the game's release will not be disappointed. There are many aspects to this title besides the obvious ones that make this an incredible and unique next-gen experience.

The story is too old to be commented.

Played the game for 2 1/2 hours tonight.. had to see for myself. Sorry MK Red, i know u love this game... & i wanted to.... climbing & city visuals ARE spectacular, but other visuals/graphics are not, combat is not what I would consider great or exceptional gameplay, although animations are very cool... hadn't seen any framerate problems... but it's not a AAA game at all. Cumbersome story & gameplay + slow are definates along with very postive points for concept & graphics.

I'd give AC a 7.5 overall with a 10 for originality, a 9 for innovative ideas (that aren't fleshed out, except climbing), & a 9+ for SOME of the graphics, but many character models (faces particularly) & horse animations are poor.... and a 7.0 or LESS for gameplay execution & replayability. Shame, had such a great concept. I support innovation and Assassin's has alot of great concepts that are unfortunately drowned by many repetitive elements & questionable combat to acheive something bigger than the slightly above average game it is. I also find the storyline.... less than stellar (trying to be polite). For me, story & gameplay drive a game, "next gen" graphics are sweet, but it is story & gameplay that truly make a game great, IMHO.

Sorry.... just one man's opinion. But, even that said, I'll play it through & enjoy it & hope & pray that Ubi gets AC2 right. Definately worth a rental so YOU can judge for yourself....

Check my gamecard on my profile. Not to tough to determine if I've actually played it...

Yeah, & i'm sorry MK... I wanted to love it too. I like your posts & agree with you almost all of the time & I was really looking forward to AC. Had to see it for myself, I even went against my better judgement & bought it. I'll enjoy it, but it is what it is. Peace.

I haven't finished AC but so far love the story and roaming. The game looks bad in some corners but forget all of that when leaping (of faith). The free running aspects are also really nice IMO but the combat does look a bit uneven...

Opinions :)
"However, this game may not be for everyone." as you said it.

looks great on the ps3 no framerate issues at all
not very far into the story so far but Im having a great time with the game. The world and characters are very well fleshed out and while the graphics are a small step down from totally lifelike its the best Ive seen so far...

well since I already had the game pre-ordered I just went and got it

the story so far is great the controls are superb..and the graphics speaks for itself

the game falls short with A.I..I mean im fighting 12 gaurds but they all stand back watch me kill another before another attack ..and it repeats ..

I also later learned counter kill which makes the game even less challeging not to mention I can easily just kill a guard or civilian..and go in blend mode the gaurds won't even notice me..and im right infront of him..and the missions tend to get repetitive...

but..the games shows potential..and I can't knock Ubi for atleast trying something new...we were just expecting too much from this game..and I think ppl who were atleast considering to buy it..cause it's still for a fun game...for what it tries to do

you just pretty much put parts of the gametrailers video review into words...sounds exactly similar and in that order to the gametrailers pretty sure you havent even touched the game

the reviews this game is getting is very very funny, it just goes to show people shouldnt put much faith into reviews.

Granted I have only had the game for a day and have play roughly 4 hours I have to admit I am really liking this game.

The first thing you notice about the game is the graphics. Wow! They have really spent some time and created a world that is unlike anything you have ever seen before.

The draw distance is amazing and the details are far and beyond anything else out there. UBISOFT is well known for graphical engines and they have done one AMAZING JOB!

The characters, the buildings, the small details are incredible!

Climbing around is one of the coolest things I have ever seen! Makes you think you can go outside to the nearest rock and start jumping and climbing! People, THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME!

The story is way different than what I originally thought! Without saying anything about the story to give it away, I never thought a sci-fi twist would or could exist in this sort of setting and so far it is very gripping and I am dying to know more.

The main character you play as is a complete bad ass! Any time you can walk around and assassinate someone on the street in such a cool fashion.....PURE JOY! haha

The gameplay really shines in this game. The system that they have developed is a real step forward and you can see that in the future, possibly the next game they have a lot of room to do some really cool things!

As it is now, the gameplay is great! Sword fighting and weapon fighting is awesome! I never back down from a fight and I love doing the combos and counters. For one, it looks freaking awesome and the amount of control you have is amazing.

This game could be a button masher for some, but it can also be completely skill based. There is much to learn even though I am in about fours into the game, I have progressed a lot. I can't wait to see what I learn next.

Before I got this game, I was wondering how easy it would be to run around and climb and all that....well, it is fantastic! No problems at all. It does what you tell it to do and assists you on the crazy stuff. I know if I was running across a board that is 30 feet above the ground, I will fall off in a heart beat so it is nice that it assists you with this.

That may sound weird but it isn't, great control!

The sounds is great but not perfect. Most will not notice any so of problems. I notice that when conversations are talking place, there is a little of hiss to it. I have a great sound system that really brings out everything. The sound really is great, don't get me wrong.

So many sounds, voices, birds and who not. If the minor hiss wasn't there it would be perfect. Close though.

I posted my thoughts on another page as well, I thought I would share them here as well.

I am going to run and play some more. A friend of mine got the game yesterday and he loves it! i think you all will too!

With so many reviews out right now, all saying something different. Either they say it is a GEM, next gen title or they say it is a 7 on a scale of 10. I say, it is a 9+. Of course, with only 4 hours into it this may change I just don't see how.

More to come.
