it really is very hard for 1up to say something positive about the ps3. I knew this was the score uncharted would get as soon as egm gave it a 8.5. There was a comment in that review where he says the brutal kill melee combo is not as satisfying as the reload timing in gears of war. That right there was completely wrong. 1st off how can you compare a melee attack to reloading. I have played gears of war tons of times and it is the reason i bought a 360 overall i believe it is a better game than uncharted but that reload timing is useless as far as i am concerned. sure its nice when you pull it off but there is no real punishement to failing. you do it when you feel like and is absolutely unnecessary. I completely fail to see how this is satisfying in anyway.

PSU.com of PS3NEWS.com should really make an article about all this nonsense going on- There are too many websites bashing the PS3 for every little detail, we can't even get fair reviews nowadays! Gamespot gives Ratchet and Clank Future an incredibly low score and 1UP tries to bash Uncharted but still gave it an 8.5, which is a very good score. They must've REALLY wanted to give it a 9.5. Why can't people do their job fairly!?

I knew this game would never get a 9 from 1up. Shane actually had an argument with the guy reviewing the game a few weeks ago because he said that Uncharted would be an AAA game. But the guy reviewing it was dismissive, and just had this whole "meh" attitude about the game. Moment of silence then, and I was watching and everyone could tell this game wasn't going to get a 9 because of this douche bag who clearly didn't even want to review the game from the get go.

Even fanboys from the green side would be hard pressed to dismiss Uncharted because it is sincerely a fantastic game, that everyone should get a chance in playing. The demo is amazing in itself, flawless enjoyment and immersion into the gameplay.

Nobody knows where there seems to be this hidden issue with the media in relation to PS3 games, I would bet my console that if this game was a 360 exclusive it would have gotten atleast a 9 along with Mass Effect and be touted as probably the greatest pair of games to launch near each other. But one has the bad luck of being a Sony exclusive, so people somehow knock a point or two off that.

So many PS3 games, exclusives have been underscored this year its a travesty and I swear to God those people who suggest that there is bias in those reviews have a great case for an argument. The vast majority here will agree e.g. Warhawk is a 9/10 game here, fantastic game and I cannot speak highly of it enough. I have Ratchet and this game is also a 9/10 yet got given a 7. Why? Because they said you'd have to be a fan of the franchise to really enjoy it so they took points off that yet I suppose everyone is a fan of the Halo series so it gets a 10?.

Why is that we could all have predicted Mass Effect and Halo would get 9's or even 10's 5-6months before release? Uncharted screams quality yet no one dare, other than PS3 owners, make a case for it. There seems to be a dark cloud of negatives over Sony this generation and its unfair for the console in all reality.

When it deserves criticism, it deserves it. However, when it deservers praise for games, then all of us as gamers should be the first to praise it for that. People who will try to mock this Uncharted score won't even make a case for it, they know the game deservers more than this but will just laugh at it anyway like a bunch of retarded escaped baboons.

I don't go to 1UP or EGM for PS3 reviews. I know I don't like accusing people of being fanboys, I don't even like that word, but 1up are a bunch of 360 fanboys to the Nth degree I'm shocked they're even allowed to publicise their bias in weekly videos and podcasts. I thought, however, that when they see a great game they'll tell it as it is but once again I'm disappointed by their BS. Just look at their review again, just please look at that page. It stinks. I swear if Uncharted actually was a bad game I'd be the first to be angry, but every sentence you read from the reviews makes you even more excited for the game, so why is there this hesitation to just all be honest and give it a score it deserves - I don't understand. Games that don't deserve such high scores, get them anyway. Whereas games that deserve higher, do not. And the difference is that ones are 360 exclusives and the others are PS3 exclusive. I just feel sorry for Naughty Dog - the effort, time and money they put into this game deservers much much more but they're being spat in the face. All these reviews, ALL of them, talk about how sensational the game is and then when you see the score your shocked and read the review again, and even more shocked as to why it didn't score higher.

I could never before admit it, but a lot of the media really does down on Sony just because it's Sony. I think a large part of why PS3 games get rated less is because prior to PS3's launch, Sony touted is as the PS3 being the mothership. The best system to ever touch the earth. So, that leaves 2 options: Microsoft is throwing their money hat around or people expect too much from Sony.

I feel very strong on how they review this game. Because I'm telling you the demo totally floored me. It's got mainstream appeal also. It's the kind of game where the gameplay is just addicting, you can just pick it up and play sotra like the Maddens and Grand Theft Autos. I played the demo like 10 times over already.

I hope when people play this that word gets around on how much fun it is, I hope it's one of those games that keeps on selling for a while not just the first week. In the end it doesn't matter what reviews say, it matters how people recieve the game.

The gaming sites lost all credibility and now (and I suggest everyone to do that) I decide for MYSELF if I like a game or NOT. If I like a game, I will buy it, no matter what review score it gets. Even if it would get 0 points I would still buy because I (me, myself) like it. There is no doubt that this game deserves technical achievement awards for:

Graphics: Honestly, the best graphics I have ever seen on a console. We have high poly geometry, the best textures I have ever seen, HDR lighting, smoothest dynamic shadows to date, turbulence forces... crap, it even looks like there is sub-surface lighting on leaves... etc...

Animation: Some of the best ever. Fluid, reactive, complex, emotion etc...

AI: This IS the best AI I have ever seen, mixed with some of the best AI animation I have ever seen. The number of paths, flanks, and positions that the enemy AI uses in mind boggling. On all fours shooting at you, getting shot in the hand and grabbing their own hand, flanking techniques etc... The AI programmers are incredible.

Loading: ZERO loading times... That right there is a technical achievement...

And on top of this, the game play is incredible...

I to, am getting tired of the PS3 grading curve... it is there, and I am glad others are starting to see it...

60 agrees to a frustrated fanboy comment guised in rational form - this sums up the demographic of readers we have in here.

Firstly, 8,5 is not a bad score. It is actually a good score. Perhaps not the AAA 9.5, 9.7 or 10 that you were all hoping for based on some previous fanboy comments that I have read, but 8.5 is nonetheless a good score. Does a reviewer giving a 8.5 deserve rebuke? If we factor in the fact that even by conservative standards there is always an acceptable margin of looking at the same thing in slightly different ways, I would say not. Even Halo 3 and Bioshock had their 8+ scores, and you hardly saw 'X-bots' expressing outcries as irrational as this.

Then the flavor of the month/ year argument - reviewers suck ballz/ IGN blows/ Gamespot is sh!te/ [insert derogatory remark about reviewers]. Reading this forum over the past months, it would seem there are no reliable reviewers left in our pathetic gaming industry. When Gamespot gave R&C a 7.5, it had no credibility at all according to some Sony fans, and IGN was the only trusted reviewer left. But wait, you Sony choir boys were singing a totally different tune when IGN gave AC a 7+ with kudos to the 360 version over the PS3 version and Gamespot gave it a 9 with kudos to PS3 version instead. EGM has todate not been forgiven for being the first amongst many to give Lair a rightfully low score, and when the non-PS affiliated reviewers started generally to give HS a 7+. 8+ score, all reviewers were crap. Did the 'X-bots' respond with such maturity when Blue Dragon, Shadowrun and Crackdown did not meet expectations?

Also the conspiracy theory - the media is against PS3. Did anyone stop to ask why the media would be against PS3? Aside from the obvious fact that MS paid them all (jeez!)...? Notwithstanding the allegations that devs are all a bunch of lazy arses who are also on MS's payroll (see how wide you guys have cast the net?), the simple fact of the matter is that for the past year, multiplatform games have generally been better on 360. Reviewers review these games and PS3 justifiably comes out looking worse. But I suppose you're talking about exclusives, not multiplatform games. OK, I actually enjoyed playing HS and completed it 3 times over, but it wasn't an exceptional game at the end of the day except for the cinematics. R&C was very fun at the start, but became very repetitive somewhere in the middle - but look the reviewers generally gave it a 9 score, so I guess no one's complaining except against Gamespot. Ninja Gaiden Sigma was a very good game and deservedly obtained very good scores, but Sony pride refuses to acknowledge this AAA game since it was of Xbox origin. Of course I'm not a Sony fan so I'm biased, but please tell me again why would reviewers in a gaming industry dominated by PS for the longest time have a natural aversion to PS again? Or is it remotely possible, given the general consensus of so many independent reviewers, that the PS games so far are just not so stellar?

Yeah this site is great for bashing, flaming and sarcastic trash talking and I'm all for it, but what is scary is that the tone I'm detecting here is in all seriousness. I know Sony fans are starved for great games - I too am looking forward to Uncharted because it promises to offer something a little different. But just because I hope to enjoy Uncharted does not mean that I put it on a very high pedestal and knock down everyone who does not quite do the same.

Still, that doesn't mean Uncharted is 8.5. It will be a great game with or without reviewers approving because lately it was more than proven that reviewers are just a bunch opinions not technical analysis of games and for the most part, tastes of most reviewers sucks.

Uncharted deserves at least a 9,because even i that is a 360 fan really wish this game was on the 360 for me to buy.From the videos i have seen the game is definitely innovative and highly cinematic.

My advise to all PS3 owners is that since you all know that this game is good then just go buy it- in the truck loads so that naughty dog will make a sequel to such a fabulous games.Dont let the stupid reviews make you skeptical about buying uncharted.PS3 fans enjoy.

The PS3 will never get the good reviews. As I have said before as a PS3 owner I am happy, but I also know the media will never except the PS3. Even if it outsold the Wii for the next 4 years. If every game was sandbox with over 200 hours gameplay with photo realistic graphics. They would still find something or another wrong with what has been achieved by the PS3.

IMO this deserved 10/10, GOTY and the respect of the media as a showcase of what the PS3 can do. Instead we have the usual FPS up with not much to chose between them. Yes I know there has been a few steps forward, but take a look at Drake's Fortune and try telling me in the last year what has been released that is close to this?

How long did you manage to play Uncharted, Meus? How many levels did you beat in the process?

You raised a few great points as I can't stand the recent groundswell of anti-sony conspiracies.

To add another point; I think one reason why the big Sony exclusives haven't been given great scores (90+) are the fact they are not particularly great 'packages'. By packages I mean game that has a great deal of added value.

Halo 3 / orange box / gears / forza 2 all got high scores due to being a great package. Maybe not containing the best single player or the best multiplayer or the best community features but when you add up all the parts you get a game with huge added value.

Whilst Uncharted obviously has a decent single player, what are you going to do after you have finished it in 8 hours (ign review)? Now if they could have included a longer campaign or co-op then they would have added value and would have in turned received higher scores. The same could be said about Heavenly Sword but that game also had a number of other flaws.

I think Bioshock is a great example of how to create a single player game with a great deal of added value. Graphically great, solid game play but also added a great story told in an unusual way. It was also long enough to make you feel like you got good value for money.

Even this been said, If you enjoyed the demo and feel that this game is worth $60/£40 then buy :) dont worry about what others think. Only you, the consumers, can prove that the reviews were incorrect and the game was worthy of AAA status.

Is that reviewers are giving great reviews to games. Not finding a single problem with it but still, the final score does not reflect the review. This happened with Ratchet and it's happening here with Uncharted. Truth is, is that the best PS3 games match up very well to the best of what MS has to offer, but the scores just don't seem justified. I see the frustration of PS owners. This may be attributed to demographics. It's the same reason why fps's don't score so well in places like Japan.

But what you are not seeing is that we PS3 owners are not saying "every exclusive must be a AAA title", but we are saying Uncharted, and R&C while we are at it, were given great and even fantastic writeups, but then a low score at the end. Take AC for instance, big talk around that game, low scores, do you see us fussing about the scores on that game...well, maybe some of us are, but for that game it is deserved, the low scores for Uncharted are not warranted, just given! Lair is another great example, hype, hype, hype, poor controlls and framerate issues = low score, and that low score is expected, the reviewers gave us a good reason for the low score, and we may grumble a bit, but we accept it. Not so with Uncharted and R&C. And I am sorry that I havn't purchased R&C yet, but it is on my Christmas list, along with Lair, Warhawk, and M.E. for the 360.

And Warhawk getting scores as low as 6 (courtesy of PSM, but it was a review by an intern since half the staff left). I honestly believe that so long as Microsoft continues to bribe the industry (and yes, there's a lot of proof) and so long as the flaws in game reviewing aren't resolved, we'll continue to see inflated scores for 360 titles and deflated scores for PS3 titles.

Halo 3 was probably the greatest example of piss-poor reviews that this industry has ever seen. IGN, in its review by Hilary Goldstein, actually defended Halo 3's framerate issues and texture pop-in, and literally stated "I get texture pop in just trying to butter a bagel."

Even though my new website is primarily Playstation-focused, I'm actually starting to consider creating Microsoft and Nintendo sections so that people can actually start to get reviews that aren't influenced by bribes or gifts from publishers, let alone bias on the reviewer's part.

Halo 3 is more like a 7, and that's with a good multiplayer mode (though not very much different from Halo 2, despite some new weapons). The single-player is laughable though. When you copy the last level of Halo 1 and paste that as the last level of Halo 3...something's wrong with your designers. Graphics weren't all that great either.

While yes I've played Gears many many times, taking a guy out with LOTS of different(IDK why they say you can only use one combo, depending on how you attack the guy-running, behind him, etc) the combat chagnes) moves is less fun than hiding and pressing a button twice to reload faster? When I take a guy out by punching that's a lot more rewarding and a "Ha! Loser" kind of thing then a special reload timer.

DJ so where is all this proof of micro bribing reviewers in the industry that you speak of, oh I forgot you can't tell me because then you would have to kill me, ha ha my bad inspector dj I'm sure its for my own protection, I wouldn't want your top secret super duper sources to be looking for me, you know the same ones that told you that micro wont let 360 games release on more than 1 disc, then not long after that Blue Dragon was released on multiple discs, I saw someone call you out on that LIE before, lmfao bro come on get a grip of yourselves sonykids, I wish I could just fcking shake some sense into you kids sometimes. micro stands to lose a helluva lot more by risking their value in the market by bribing some site for just one(1) fcking review, also the risk is not worth the reward, you pay a guy and then you have to always wonder/worry if he will use it against you later in some form of future request/threats for MORE money again and again?, alos who else might he tell about it?, are you willing to bribe them too, also this would have a huge impact on your company as a whole= negative news would hurt them bigtime on the stock market, while this one (1) reveiwer would lose his job only later to write a tell all book about meeting a micro exec at midnight under a bridge where he recieved a suitcase full of money, ha ha no but seriously news like this would be very bad for micro's company as a whole and they would take a huge hit and all its further gaming related reviews would have little or no legitimacy so once again theres just too much risk for very little reward because one review isn't going to garuantee anything, especially once the initial first gamers play the game and word of mouth spreads that the game sucks= (still dont understand why sonykids logic contradict reality, Halo3 is still selling very well yet they still say it sucks, I guess only their few opinions matter vs 4+ mil and counting)= strange logic sonykids have

these just a few examples of why it wouldn't be worth it to micro, there are plenty other reasons your theories make no sense and keep in mind this would be just for one(1) paid review, for one(1) game, from one (1) site, imagine if it was as most you sonykids describe and it was many sites and individuals in the industry, including ps fan sites, and European sites as well, hell even japan is in on it(Famitsu) rated Halo3 pretty highly so I guess micro paid them too, damm now thats alot of money for even micro, maybe old Bill "made them a offer they couldn't refuse", ha ha sonykids put the L in LMFAO!=

People.omg I cannot believe how much hype this boring game is getting. U ps3 people must really be desperate for a decent game.then again,there is a drought on quality games b3yond. This game sucks.story sucks. And this water graphics that are meant to be reveloutionary, um,yeah,was a year ago in Saints Row.
