PlayStation 3 sales have surged over 400 per cent in Australia following price drops for the 160GB and 320GB models, Sony Computer Entertainment Australia revealed today.
Its had a $200 drop here which is a "lot" of money so not really surprising the sales have increased this much. http://images.wikia.com/una...
$200 hey? Despite parity and strong Aussie dollar, we still get raped with game prices.
Yea, dropped from $599 to $298. Originally i paid $1000 for it... :|
Wow one thousand!? And we complain (here in uk) that we're paying more than US gamers /: 250£ (proximately 320$) is not very bad after all!
Proceed with world domination
What the..a $200 drop???!
woah thats like ... 300 more percent than 100% awesome
No need to be a [email protected], man. haha Anyway, this is good news for Sony. Good to see the price drop helping sales.
I take it you dont watch that 70's show :/
Nah, only seen it a handful of times. I didn't get the reference, bro. :/
Holy crap no wonder it increased by so much. Impressive indeed.
yeh they sold 5 last week instead of the usual 1 lol. just kidding, but also not really - 400% is great, but 400% of "not many" is still "not many". we dont sell many consoles here in australia. the price was a HUGE obstacle for many people here, as like someone else said, it was $1000 at launch. up until this launch, it was still $550-$599. the price drop was to $349, but as soon as one shop - big W - bypassed that and dropped it to $298, everyone else had to follow suit basically. so now its RRP is basically $298 here - a 70% reduction from its launch price! i was one of that 400% increase, finally got to replace my YLOD'd launch PS3. heres hoping the slim lasts longer.
The price wasn't that much of a factor, it was still outselling the 360 (well it reach 1 million before it did).
*Looks at username* You must have a really low self-esteem, then. lol Go ahead, post a reliable link showing Australian numbers. I'll wait. @miDnIghtEr You just compared an overpopulated developing nation with Australia. Try again.
Go PS3! Close the gap! :)
Yes my fellow PS3 fan, GO PS3!!!!
That's awesome news for Australia, I'm from Australia when I use to live there game prices are pretty damn high over there it's like $100 for a new xbox360/PS3 game, glad to see the prices is gone down a bit
Out of curiosity what is the minimum wage in Australia? In the US the federal wage is 7.25/hour. The average game costs $60 in the US.
It's just over $15. http://www.fairwork.gov.au/...
i dont know u guys dont buy ur ps3 from the us , back in 2007 ps3 was also 1300$+ here were i live so i just ordered one from the us for 600$
dosnt the exchange rate make it around the same price everywhere????
no. there are many factors.
@kratos, becasue all our dvds are pal and what not, so it would be a great pain in the arse, I have considered buying a ps3 from the uk back a year ago, although still a pain cause most dvds are region locked. Thankfully though blu rays dont have the same sort of issues, I buy nearly all my blu rays from the uk. Also if we purchased a ps3 from america we would have issues with dlc through the aussie store and what not.
cool its good to see strong sales for a beast of a console
It was a huge drop here in AUS, 160gb PS3 went from $500 down to $300 which is massive. Still remember when launch PS3 were $1000 lol.
@all people say this is good. how is this good they didnt say decrease they said increase meaning it costs now then before.
do you need your eyes checked? it says SALES increase, not PRICE decrease....
It already overtook the 360 last year so I guess it will eventually overtake Wii and I'm referring to Australia sales
interesting so 15 "bucks" for AU's minimum wage? and USD to AUD ain't too far different? Wonder how the living expenses in AU so I'd know more if some were over reacting with their video game prices.
Great news for PS3 =D
Good news for the console industry as well :) Looks like the console market ain't that all doom and gloom as those so called experts are saying. lol!
It's not exactly good news for the console market. It's pretty much a given right after a price drop.
Wouldn't it be worse if they didn't sell after the price drop? How could that not be good news especially at this current stage of the console cycle? We should be freaking supporting the industry then down playing the competition because we prefer the other. We already have the haters and fanboys that will do that. I had too much of these so called analyst as it is and yet I see a healthy console market every time the sales figure comes out for this generation that is 5 years old.
And i do feel good by reading it ;)
why does this make you feel good?
