"Scarygirl is an interesting character. A creation of Nathan Jurevicius, this odd little gal that looks like a pirate has what appears to be a fairly large following all around the world. While I have never really read the works, I thought I would scout around the internet a little bit before I engaged myself in this PSN PS3/PSP Mini platformer from TikGames. The research that I have done indicates that Scarygirl is a charming take on interesting legends; ideas that we all share. Unfortunately, I believe that there is a rift between the game and the novel; the latter seeming to be a far more rewarding experience compared to the former."

"Dr Maybee and the Adventures of Scarygirl is a PlayStation mini which is playable on PS3 or PSP. The title is based on a free flash game which is, in turn, based on a graphic novel designed by Nathan Jurevicius.
The game is currently R45 on the PS Store, and for that price you expect something entertaining and fairly substantial. Unfortunately this mini is a simplistic, brief platformer which doesn’t seem to engage with its source material as you might expect."

Developed and published by TikGames, the game is now available in North America for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system as a “mini” title, initially available only to PlayStation® Plus users. Dr Maybee and the Adventures of Scarygirl is a marvelous adventure through the Scarygirl universe. In the game, Scarygirl will attempt to discover the identity of the mysterious, bearded man haunting her dreams. Scarygirl, the part-octopus girl who dresses like a pirate, has a tentacle for her right hand and only a bone for her left hand, is the star here, though each friendly or treacherous creature she meets will certainly be unique. With help from her friends, the quick-witted Bunniguru and Blister the giant octopus, she will journey from her treehouse home in the forest to an overwhelmingly unfriendly city in her quest to locate Dr Maybee. The game is a completist’s paradise, as each level allows players to search high and low for hundreds of gems, fish, and other items to collect.
