Destructoid: Counter-Strike: GO is all about that skill rank

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is easily my most anticipated shooter. Modern Warfare and Battlefield will both do phenomenally this fall, but GO will definitely be my shooter of choice when it finally drops; in Valve time, of course. One of the most exciting aspects may be the skill-based matchmaking.

"If you're playing against PS3 players, that just means that they're as good as you"

that's until they find a way to boost to pc skill level. Trust me they will find a way

Then they'll have their collective asses handed to them which will be quickly followed by regret.

Looks really an outdated shooter - graphics, animation, firing, movement. The worst part is hip firing all the way, and just focus on hit marker. Where is the AIM?

nolifeking3100d ago

I know COD spoiled many a new gamer, but aim is still needed even when firing from the hip, especially here. The fact that you have so obviously not played CS makes what you say all the more useless.

Blaine3100d ago (Edited 3100d ago )

lol, COD and aim in the same sentence!

I haven't bought any COD games this gen because right away I caught on to how noob-friendly they are (which, incidentally, is the key to their success), but all my friends play it so I'm not opposed to joining them for a night of zombies. First thing I do, though, is always to change my two key settings: invert aim ON, aim assist OFF. The night was drawing to a close, and we'd changed to competitive match types, and I figured I'd turn aim assist back on to even out the playing field (point of interest: even with the option off, there was still some unwanted assist). All this to say: COD doesn't have aim-assist, it's flat-out auto aim.

Oh, and on the topic of hip-firing: while we were playing zombies I was firing from the hip most of the time. All the while my friends were telling me to sight in, but I kept telling them it's not necessary. My headshot/ kill ratio was always around and above 50%, without scoping in--their percentage wasn't a tenth of that.

Even some online FPS games are rampant with some sort of assist. There has been games that actually has auto-headshot for pete sakes.

Its no longer about skill its about taking the hands of the gamers and babying them.

"Where is the AIM?"

You gotta do it yourself. No hand holding in the game.

MidnytRain3099d ago (Edited 3099d ago )

Valve apparently learned from the other devs. Changing a game too much, especially one with such a dedicated fanbase, is a bad idea. They probably want to keep the core gameplay intact.

kwyjibo3099d ago

You have to aim yourself, child.

peowpeow3099d ago

Shutup, play quake, get owned then try saying that again. I dare you.

i still need bigger than 5v5 games on ps3..

nolifeking3100d ago (Edited 3100d ago )

Then buy a game that has bigger player counts. Something tells me they do exist.

DeadlyFire3099d ago

Peer to peer games. 5v5 is about perfect for lag free competitive play.
