Modern Warfare 3′s characters are why it’s better than Battlefield 3 – Condrey

It’s the cast of familiar characters “we all love” in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 like Soap and Price that gives it the edge over Battlefield 3, says Michael Condrey of Sledgehammer Games.

who is Michael Condrey?

better yet who is Sledgehammer Games and why do they think they are at DICE's level before even putting out a game?

Because BF2 is BF3 with pretty graphics

@pandamobile

true to that

No. I dont think the characters will have any weight for someone when deciding between BF3 and MW3. lol

JellyJelly5051d ago

80% of the experience is in the multiplayer.

ReservoirDog3165051d ago

Plus, Price was really cool in CoD4 but he became a shell of himself by mw2. And soap too. The story was just all over the place in mw2.

Downtown boogey5051d ago

Yeahhh... And the story in CoD4: MW was about killing the same bad guy TWICE, so...

And back onto the topic:
There are no characters in MW. There are soldiers.

led10905051d ago

Battlefield 3's everything is why its better than Modern Warfare 3 :p

SCW19825051d ago

If you have to start grabbing at pathetic reasons for thinking your games gonna be better it's probably not a good sign of things to come.

Pandamobile5051d ago

Modern Warfare 3 - Character centric, high octane Hollywood-esque story.

Battlefield 3 - Event driven combat Drama, like Hurt Locker or Black Hawk Down.

So saying MW3 has better characters than BF3 is pretty much stating the obvious.

iamnsuperman5051d ago (Edited 5051d ago )

Your right. I can see bf3 characters being less involved than the hollywood style of COD

TheGameFoxJTV5050d ago

What's Funny is that Call of Duty used to be like that. Where you were just a small part in a larger conflict. Now, it's about some super human people doing EVERYTHING on their own! What call of Duty are you responding to in the games now?

ReservoirDog3165051d ago

Believe it or not, hurt locker was supposed to be a character study not an event driven piece.

Didn't quite make it up to par in that area though. Not bad. Just not that great.

Downtown boogey5051d ago

Completely right...
I pressed Agree on Panda before reading the last three words.... And also, I loved Hurt Locker.

Pandamobile5051d ago

It's not a perfect example but you know what I mean.

OdinFallen5051d ago

That's assuming that people want those types of hollywood characters. The only person I ever got particularly attached to in the MW games was Price, mostly because I loved his stache.

While i appreciate the gesture.... all of these retro classics have been made available everywhere else. I am hoping to see some other Activision properties make their way out of the shackles of the 5th, 6th and 7th gen. Licensing be damned... bring back the Transformers Cybertron games.

P_Bomb33d ago

Love the Cybertron games! TF games have been shit lately. Would love to see that era revisited. I even did the multiplayer!

MrBaskerville33d ago

Is the retro classics for all consoles?

Obscure_Observer34d ago

We can´t catch a freaking break from awesome games arriving all the time!!!

Deathdeliverer33d ago

It’s a HELL of a game. If you like JRPGs in the family of Persona, you will be in heaven… that is until you hear the various battle music…. then you’ll be somewhere BEYOND heaven!

Just finished Clair Obscur. This should be fun.

Electronic Arts Almost Owned Call of Duty and Blizzard

It was recently revealed in an exclusive episode of the 'Grit' podcast that EA once passed up acquiring Blizzard, Activision, and Call of Duty.

Only a big company that has interest in gaming like Microsoft or Tencent could have acquired Activision. Extremely low interest rates at that time certainly helped.

Not exactly sure that a merger with EA would’ve benefited any of their franchises or gamers. I imagine it would’ve been like the activision blizzard one were each publisher retains their own identity. So Activison-Blizzard-EA. But who knows.

fsfsxii131d ago

If it was owned by EA, COD could’ve disappeared a looong time ago. They have no clue how to manage franchises.

Gamingsince1981118d ago

It's a shame EA didn't buy them then, COD should die, it's past its prime and has been since black ops 2, I started playing it when cod 4 mw first came out and it has been downhill since.

SoloGamer1130d ago

thank goodness we dodged that landmine 😒
