Counter Strike Go vs Every Other FPS

With the announcement of Counter Strike Go. Valve has put every other publisher/developer of a FPS on notice. They are back. So what does the return of one the best FPS ever mean to everyone else? Does Counter Strike Go pose a threat to Call of Duty MW 3, or even Battlefield 3? Do gamers still care about the Counter Strike franchise? No matter the answer it's on like Donkey Kong.

I can't believe it took this long for some writer to make up a CS:GO vs. ? article.

seriously this poses no threat to nobody! This is basically an update to CS as to make it a standard game for the Pro Circuit on all platforms. CS:GO and Dota2 are gunning for the Pro Gaming Circuit and competitive gaming audience, which by the way is huge and getting more and more popular as people pay money just to watch!

upon release you will still have thousands still playing CS1.6 thousands still playing CS.S and thousands playing CS:GO with thousands buying CS hats in TF2...lol :)

*sigh*

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to see how CS will play, but articles like these make me want to strangle a baby :O

Besides, all I got out of it was that it will take away some of Activision and EA's monayz... As it should if it's a good game.

Alot of people will hate the fact that you have to buy your weapons before every round, including me. If this game had weapon classes I'd be all in.

BattleAxe5061d ago (Edited 5061d ago )

Yeah, I know about that, its just a pain to have to go through that. People on consoles wont be able to do that though. I just find the weapon purchase system to be inconvenient, and obviously in real life individual SWAT Team members don't purchase guns and ammo before they do a raid. There were so many times on CSS where I didn't have much money and so I was stuck with a handgun while all the pros(cheaters) with aimbots had automatic weapons.

@ Panda and tdrules

I actually love the actual gameplay of Counter Strike, but this is the only thing that bugs me. Just for the record tdrules, the gamemodes that I prefered in Socom were the ones where you couldn't respawn, but you could still set up your weapon classes :) I don't find running around with a handgun due to not having any other option very satisfying when many of my opponents have automatic weapons. Panda, I've got a close friend who says the same thing as you about the game not being CS without weapon purchasing. I'll give the new CS a try, but I'll have to force myself to get into it.

I like the way the system works. It rewards you for playing well. And it punishes you for being too greedy as you can blow all you money on a sniper-deagle-nade-kevlar+helm loadout and lose it all on a single guy killing you.

Besides, I find that I usually have enough for at the least some dualies, dealgle, or MP5 due to the $1,000 (I think, can't remember as it's been a few weeks) you get at the end of a round no matter what. The glock works really well if you can land headshots easily.

tdrules5061d ago

that's like saying you don't like Socom because you can't respawn in the good game modes.

Accept games do not have to adhere to others, because usually when they don't you get something much more satisfying.

Pandamobile5061d ago

It wouldn't be Counterstrike without the pre-round purchases...

Play for a like 20 hours, and the purchases become muscle memory. I haven't touched CSS in a couple years, but I can still tap out the button combo to buy an M4, Deagle, flash bang, HE grenade and armour/helmet.

OpenGL5061d ago

Plus isn't there a button to rebuy everything that you purchased in the previous round?

Pandamobile5061d ago

Yes, and you can have a handful of pre-set loadouts per team.

MysticStrummer5061d ago

Buying weapons before every round??? Interest meter dropping rapidly.

finbars755061d ago (Edited 5061d ago )

It's like playing domination when you have to pay for guns before the game which I love. It's more of an encitave to play smart and good and you get rewarded with better options.Coming to the consoles might be a bad idea as much as I love CS source. The precision of shooting someone is way more accurate and a lot faster.Cosole version will be way to slow but will give people a good idea of how good this game really is.COD is nothing compared to this game.I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing people cry after playing this highly skilled game on consoles.

mananimal5060d ago

Nope!, not me, its just like SHADOWRUN, and thats the ONLY competitive FPS that I play online.,,,,,,,,CAN'T WAIT!.......that is, can't wait, to see how it looks runs and feels on CONSOLE....either way , its good to have a REAL(the KING) competitive FPS coming out on console, and I don't expect to see too many COD's and BF's groupies and fanboys playing..lol, but thats good news...as this is for the Big Boys.

Valve Makes Up for Steam Deck Repair Delay by Gifting Free Game

Valve gave a user Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for free as compensation for the long wait during their Steam Deck repair.

UltimateOwnage42d ago

I had a similar experience when I initially pre-ordered my Deck. There was an issue during shipping and they offered me a customer service perk for the hassle and let me pick any game on Steam. It was super nice of them. I got a copy of Rime.
