Why Battlefield 3 is Better Than Modern Warfare 3

(GameFrontPage) The battle between Call of Duty and Battlefield has never been tenser then it is right now. Both franchises releasing the third entry into highly successful new takes on their series, and both trying to be the definite best of the genre. Never before have both sides been quite as competitive. Here's 5 reasons DICE's "Battlefield 3" will dominate Activision's "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3".

@gametillyoudrop

If you are looking for an example to prove that EA is greedier than Activision, comparing the way Activision treats Call of Duty versus the way EA treats Battlefield is a very poor example.

Activision shoves whatever crapware they can onto the shelves to make sure they have those yearly updates. They charge a boatload for map packs. They fired many of their best developers to keep even more of that cash for themselves, and the teams that are left to make CoD games are a bit questionable. DICE, on the other hand, is one of the best developers of multiplatform games, and unlike many multiplatform developers, they don't stiff PC gamers with lousy ports. Optimization of the PS3 and PC versions of Black Ops was absolute crap, whereas all of the versions of Bad Company 2 ran reasonably well, especially considering the physics used in the console versions. EA/ DICE gave away extra maps for free. The most pricey BC2 DLC was the Vietnam expansion, which was awesome and well worth the price.

In my experience with EA over just the past few months, I've participated in the Alpha, was sent an online coupon for 25% off a game I used to preorder BF3 on PC for $45, and was given a free copy of Dead Space 2 on PC through Origin for being an Alpha tester. Also, when I received my PS3 copy of BC2 in the mail, it was cracked; EA replaced it without any problems or hassle. Comparing this to what I've seen to Activision, it's no contest that Activision is MUCH greedier.

@phantomexe

You better show some respect, it's Rambo! You don't want that guy knocking on your front door.

Ser4632d ago

That sums it up perfectly. Such a win comment.

'Better' is a matter of personal preference. For me, COD no longer offers anything innovative. I played through COD4, MW2 and BL:OPS. I am yet to see anything about MW3 that I have not seen in the previous games.

BF3 on the other hand is innovating on all fronts. It boils down to this... BF3 -> PreOrdered. MW ->Rental.

Motorola4633d ago

I am curious. How is it innovative on ALL fronts?

Angels37854633d ago

BF3 innovative? In graphics maybe, but they have essentially been adding bit by bit to the original Battlefield formula. At least they add a ton. With COD it's only minor tweaks and in my opinion COD games only get worse like Michael Bay movies. As the action gets bigger the quality goes down.

DoomeDx4633d ago

Suppressing system = Innovative

Battlelog = Innovative

When you are looking at a tree with the sniper rifle, and you zoom in, you aim at the diffrent spot. AKA No quickscoping because when you aim down the sights you dont zoom in at the center of the screen = Innovative

A real intense battlefield = Innovative

The sound design = Innovative

According to DICE, it takes years to unlock everything = Innovative in the FPS Genre.

Dedicated Servers on consoles = Not THAT innovative, but lets face it, how many FPS games have a server browser on consoles?

Command Menu - Innovative (BF2 started that btw)

Lots of Vehicle-Specializations = Innovative

BF3 = Innovative!

Angels37854632d ago

@DoomeDx

Most of what you said is basically agreeing with me because most of those with the exception of the browser are unique to the BATTLEFIELD SERIES as a whole. Thats why I say Battlefield THREE ISN'T innovative. It's like Newton said " I am successful because I have stood on the shoulders of giants" I'm not some COD fanboy who is ranting about BF3 not being innovative. Im saying that it has things even if they are completely new to the entire FPS genre that are specific to the Battlefield style of tactical play.

Battlefield 3 bring everything to the table
.Destructible vehicles/buildings/environment
.Tanks
.Vehicles
.Choppers
.Jets
.24 players online
.Free game on ps3 version ( battlefield 1943)
.More tactical gameplay
.Frostbite 2.0 (not an old reused engine everytime)
.Bullet drop
.Coop
.EOD bots
.repair/disarm vehicles
.In-game server browser.

Convas4633d ago

I'm pretty sure consoles are 24 players bud. Look it up.

Angels37854633d ago

I'm pretty sure I already said this to you, but I'll say it again Frostbite 2.0 IS NOT A BRAND NEW ENGINE!

tsunami9014633d ago

Frosbite 2 was made specifically for BF3. ...and it is new.

Angels37854632d ago (Edited 4632d ago )

It is not brand new it is a modified version of Frostbite. also just because its the first game to utilize the tech doesn't mean it was made specifically for BF3. I can guarantee this engine will be used for other games. Trust me when I say BF3 will be sick (I'm not some COD fanboy like your assuming) but this engine is NOT new Even If you dont Google what i'm saying for proof at least consider the TWO POINT O part of the engine which usually refers to a bigger better version of an already existing item like MAG 2.0.

Ser4632d ago

YES IT IS.

Stop dismissing it. Battlefield 3 is Frostbite 2's video game debut.

Angels37854632d ago

@DrakBlack
Just because its it game debut does not mean it was specifically designed for BF3! It will be used in other games! Also It technically isn't BRAND NEW because it wasn't built from nothing, its built from a modified bigger better frostbite engine hence the TWO POINT O.

Ser4631d ago

@angels3785

It doesn't matter what the engine is used on LATER. Battlefield 3 will be the first time it appears in a video game.

Also, yes, it's a new iteration of an existing engine. But it's still a NEW ITERATION. Did you not participate in the alpha? It's leagues better than BC2's engine. LEAGUES better.

Now list all the things MW3 has that BF3 doesn't. Let's be just be honest here.

JoePrime4633d ago

Only thing I've really seen new from MW3 is the dual-scope on your guns. Which while super-cool and useful, isn't *that* impressive IMO. My biggest gripe with MW2 was that it was all Climax and no Anticipation. MW1 had a little story development, some character plot, etc. MW2 was just BOOM MAIN CHAR DIES HE DIES BOOM EXPLOSION SPACE EXPLOSION etc. It never stopped and let the Climax build up - it just kept exploding on everything all the time. Black Ops was certainly better, so we'll see is MW3 takes any of the better bits of that narrative.

Tell you what... Gimme one reason why sites keep writing flame bait articles like this... Do me a favour and write a little "...In my opinion" after it

And last I checked... Jets are vehicles so you can't even count. That's 4 reasons.

I don't have a problem with you praising battlefield... But don't put Call of Duty down just to get hits. That's pathetic.

JoePrime4633d ago

I kind of agree on the Jets point - even while writing it I had to pause and think about it. However, Battlefield 2 already had a lot of vehicle options, even some Helicopters so I felt it was worthy to point out Jets as a completely new field for the 3rd game.

Also, from seeing the Jet gameplay footage, it's not just a tank that flies, it looks like they put a LOT of time into the physics, GUI, etc and really made it feel special. So in the end I decided to keep it as it's own point. :)

Kee4633d ago

Aww, now I sound like a meanie. Your reply is too polite for what I just said...

Brownghost4633d ago

no one cares weve seen hundreds of these there all the same still i prefer BF3

hmmm I think there will be no old BF glory days for EA since they are loyal to their greediness and laziness :D

Knightofelemia527d ago

You're asking for a miracle with EA that will never happen unless they can exploit the money making schemes behind it.
