Battlefield 3 vs. MW3 Trash-Talking Hits New Low

IGN: Electronic Arts has been hurling insults at Activision for months, as it seeks to sell copies of forthcoming shooter Battlefield 3 and take share from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Now, EA has ramped up the pressure. The company's chief spokesman Jeff Brown used trade site IndustryGamers to toss some abuse at Hirshberg.

IGN is the Fox News of gaming.

wow, ok

I was like this is not that bad, until he said,

"You've got every reason to be nervous. Last year Activision had a 90 share in the shooter category. This year, Battlefield 3 is going to take you down to 60 or 70. At that rate, you'll be out of the category in 2-3 years. If you don't believe me, go to the store and try to buy a copy of Guitar Hero or Tony Hawk."

Oh sh*t, that's cold... LoL

I don't think Activision is nervous, but they should be... BF3 is looking like they are not playing this time around...

either way this battle BF3 vs MW3 EA vs Activision is good for Gamers - the harder these teams push to beat each other, the Gamer is the ultimate winner..

""If you don't believe me, go to the store and try to buy a copy of Guitar Hero or Tony Hawk.""

^ Oh no you didn't... that is just violation to the extreme lol... that sh*t is cold... colder than Antarctica... damn lmao

limewax5047d ago (Edited 5047d ago )

Although I think he was being a bit harsh with his words too, He actually has a solid point, both Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero slowly decayed due to Rock Band and SKATE. He actually could be onto something, although CoD will no doubt sell more this year, What happens next year?

Joe29115047d ago

I didn't realize the MW3 team was pushing @_@

ilikegam3s5047d ago

Tbh if MW3 fails to BF3 then activision will prob force the CoD devs to make a new engine :D (that would be awesome rofl)

-Alpha5047d ago

That is cold, but guess what? It's completely warranted.

Activision gets away with what they do and competition has come around. There is no rational ground to defend Activision, their comment about EA's comments being bad for the company is pure hypocrisy.

Dart895047d ago

Well crapovision does deserve it i'm gonna post what someone posted last night on another thread that had to do with this.

KingDustero.

"Does no one remember when Activision threatened to stop supporting the PS3 just because their games didn't sell as well on it?

How about how they canceled MULTIPLE games and closed down their studios just because the games didn't sell as well as CoD.

How about the fact that they wouldn't let IW work on a new IP. Thus that is why a lot of the IW leads now work for EA at Respawn Entertainment. This guy says that the industry needs innovation, but he himself won't allow it.

Activision is trying to look like the "good guy" here, but in the end they're worse than EA on the industry. They don't innovate at all and don't give games a chance. This guy is a complete hypocrite.

creatchee5047d ago

"If you don't believe me, go to the store and try to buy a copy of Guitar Hero or Tony Hawk."

Ironic words, considering that EA ditched Harmonix after RB3 and The Beatles RB sold less than they wanted to. And Skate 1/2 didn't exactly set the world on fire either.

People like this need to pump the brakes and stay in their own lanes when it comes to discussing other companies.

awi59515047d ago (Edited 5047d ago )

@limewax Bobby kotick killed Spyro the Dragon series too!!!!!!!

So hes not being harsh activiison started this every year cycle crap along time ago. Spyro the dragon series was a awesome game, untill activsion ran it into the ground before these other titles. They made spyro's every year and on every platform and the quality got worse and worse untill they killed it.
Spyro was always critically acclaimed untill activision got the ip and ran it into the ground.

battlefield 3 needs to take over maybe activison will come out with a new COD instead of recycling the same crap ever year

StayStatic5047d ago (Edited 5047d ago )

This is just full of win

DERKADER5047d ago

That's what happens when all you care about is money and you whore out your best selling games to the point of irrelevancy.

Theo11305047d ago

Battlefield VS MW3 is like Real Madrid V Barcelona

Battlefield is Real Madrid, both winners.

MRHARDON5047d ago

When I saw the title, I was like "Can EA just be quiet?"

Then when I saw the artical, he did state the truth, Call of Duty is getting old and is going to lose alot of market share this year.

moho-foe5047d ago

Sounds like these too need to settle it in a Quake Deathmatch!

While i appreciate the gesture.... all of these retro classics have been made available everywhere else. I am hoping to see some other Activision properties make their way out of the shackles of the 5th, 6th and 7th gen. Licensing be damned... bring back the Transformers Cybertron games.

P_Bomb23d ago

Love the Cybertron games! TF games have been shit lately. Would love to see that era revisited. I even did the multiplayer!

MrBaskerville23d ago
