There have been a few games based on novels, actually. Ringworld, Betrayal at Krondor, Sword of Shanara, Stargate, and many more. But they are old PC games.

But would you expect since the consoles are the biggest matket? 90% of console customers cant't even write anything worth reading in forums, let alone read a good book...

There are literaly TONS of sci-fi and fantasy books just begging to be made into games. The day someone adapts something like the The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe into a big AAA production values title will be day of change indeed...

Until then we have to live with the usual rip-offs and boring clones the industry is so happy to feed us down our throats.

EDIT: measuring by the amount of responses this thread has got, I guess that just goes to confirm the degree of interest and litteracy the majority of the console crowd has...
