Destructoid - DmC Preview

Destructoid's Maurice Tan writes, "All types of Devil May Cry fans seem to have formed their opinions on the upcoming DmC already, although to date there hasn't been a whole lot to go on. The new game features a younger and more aggressive Dante and although Ninja Theory's Enslaved was somewhat of a critics darling, not everyone was as charmed by the combat in that game.

At gamescom, Capcom and Ninja Theory were finally ready to show the actual important part. Not the hair, but the combat mechanics"

other than that this looks good hoping for the best any info on release window yet?

Cpt_kitten4783d ago

are you kidding this game is a joke to devil may cry its pure crap

showtimefolks4783d ago

how is it when did it come out how much did you pay for it. You guys are crazy they changed a fake character's looks and you guys give up on the IP

yes i do have some good hopes for this and Resident evil recoon city atleast capcom is trying something new i know both won't be great i am hoping for atleast good

AWBrawler4783d ago

Dante seems less flashy and i hate the fact that he smokes now. he was too cool to smoke, thats part of his persona.

hope they add more flair

You are a disgrace to your avatar! change it and put this instead
http://dustinfaulkner.files...

suits you well.

umm also have a good cup of tea while playing this crap sir...

8bit_Nes_Rambo4783d ago

This game is going to flop harder than a fish out of water. Not because Dante looks like he just broke out of a methodone clinic, not because his persona has been castrated, but because NT is absolute crap at making good games.

AWBrawler4783d ago

Didn't they do tenchu? I liked that

Lavalamp4783d ago

From Software and Acquire developed the games in the Tenchu franchise.

"If you have played Enslaved before, you will recognize a lot of touches from that game's camera work."

Is that supposed to be good news?

"Special finishers bring the camera up close and personal to show Dante ripping apart his foes before zooming out to the regular view"

OMG! This hasn't been before. Innovation at it's...o wait. This HAS been done before.

Some Heavenly Sword camera issues, same Devil May Cry combat, all at 30 fps? Why did we need Ninja Theory to do exactly what Capcom can do with DMC, only worse?

AWBrawler4783d ago

I am a diehard Dante fan, but this game is making me cringe. I'm hoping for a game at least as good as 4, since I know 3 is untouchable

VileAndVicious4783d ago (Edited 4783d ago )

@AWBrawler

Ima let you finnish number 3 was good... But devil may cry 1 was the greatest of all time

AWBrawler4783d ago

knowing the series started as a Resident Evil Spinoff sort of, I feel part 1 wasn't as flesh out as 2 and 3, but It does have Dante's classic line in it lol. And it's still kick ass

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC154d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Exvalos153d ago

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Cacabunga153d ago

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer154d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

monkey602154d ago (Edited 154d ago )

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya154d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde154d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP153d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.

5 Years Later, Devil May Cry 5 Still Quenches My Hack-And-Slash Thirst Like No Other

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Devil May Cry 5, the latest iteration in the iconic DMC franchise by Capcom, still holds its own as a fantastic hack-and-slash in 2024."
