Justin Lacey starts to see the draw of completely finishing a game thanks to achievements and trophies, and has some ideas of how to make it even more fulfilling.
I pretty much agree with the whole article. Trophies/achievements can really add to a games enjoyment and greatly improve the overall experience if effort actually goes into them. Likewise, they can leave a bitter taste in the mouth if not designed properly. GoW3 is a good example. The game its self is one of the best this generation, but it was obvious the trophies were an after thought for the developer, and as a result the game was no were near as memorable as it could have been. I obtained the platinum trophy in 3 days and have never played it again. Developers need to realise trophies are just as important as any other aspect of the game.
