I think it could certainly hurt hardcore gaming in the long run.

i think it can help and at some point actually replace traditional gaming in the sense like portable computing has almost replaced regular computing.

It is the evolution of things. People dont want to be bound to one location anymore and so with mobility comes the expansion of doing stuff on the go that you used to only do from a fixed location.

With the boom that is wireless comes the desire to take anything and everything with you. We can look at the hardware for games and say it isnt as good as dedicated consoles.

The turn around time is getting shorter and in a few years we will have console gaming replacements via handhelds like we have desktop computer replacements in laptops/netbooks/tablets.

I disagree. I think the hardcore gamers will always fund console-type entertainment. But begrudging the mobile space is a losing and counter-productive argument, IMHO.

What's really killing the gaming industry is greedy companies giving the middle finger to their customers. Imo that is... Actually, no, that's a fact.
