Xbox 360 HDMI Denied, Removed From Site

The Xbox 360 $99 HDMI cable has been killed, at least temporarily. Microsoft has denied that it exists, and the cable itself has now been removed from the EBGames website.

oh man...this happens a lot on both sides. the funny part is reading stuff from fanboys from both sides defend it or bash it and then the real confirmed news comes along and now everyone looked like fools.

The reason this doesn't matter to anyone is because it was never an official anouncement and no one ever "promised" hdmi support for the xbox 360. If it were to happen that would be awesome, but component handles 720p just as good as hdmi so there really isn't a demand for it yet.

Usual -- "we haven't announced any <product here>...", then its announced and comes to market, just like the quick-charge adapter, Halo3, etc.

I may pick it up at Best Buy when it shows and take it back if it doesn't noticeably improve the picture (though it already is sweet on analog). Viva la 360! gCM

So why does the 360 need HDMI when it only runs at 1080i anyway? I don't really get it... Anyway, I still run mine on an SDTV, so I couldn't care less.

its a little better picture and sound quality than VGA and component, and if the HD-Dvd needs to get around the copyright stuff, microsoft will be able to offer HDMI so it doesn't downgrade, my opinion atleast

Im sorry but you's are all fanboys who are obviously feeling foolish, so are trying to downplay what happened, but to the guy who said that hdmi looks a little bit better than VGA, is wrong. No it does not, and vga can go higher in res. Also nobody seems to be listening but the guy who keeps saying that component can do 1080p is right, but nobody seems to be listening to him. Also hdmi is just dvi and digital optical or coaxial combined into one with DRM thrown in for their (the companies) good measure. And they charge you a arm and a leg for it. And 1080i or p or even 720p dont really matter except for for on the tv, because unless the game is rendered in 720p or 1080i (ugh! i hate using these foolish marketing slogans! its interlaced or non-interlaced). The res wont look as high. See what they are doing in many of these games in rendering them at around 800by600 or 1024 by 768 and then upconverting it to 720p or 1080i. By doing that, it allows the tv recieving the signal to look sharper, than say is instead they feed it a 1024 signal and then have the tv upconverted (which most of these tv's dont do well in my opinion.)
