IGN - With the eventual tablet release, OnLive may prove to be a serious mobile alternative.
Not sure I really follow how OnLive will ruin a portable.
YOu can play it on ipad, and you could use onlive controller on ipad :) next gen gaming on portable, crysis on the go :D But it likely wont ruin psp becouse youll need wifi and good connection :(
Wouldn't it weaken a product that's already on shelves like the 3DS? Why are we talking about a product that has yet to come out?
Onlive is a great option if you want to play hardcore games on the go, but don't you have to set it down in a place to use it? Let me explain. To use the Ipad with Onlive, you need to lay the Ipad on a table/desk..then you have use the wireless controller. Its cool, no doubt...but you can't do the same thing on a bus, car, or train(unless u have 3G or something) I don't like the idea of relying on a 3G network to stream my games..and those monthly 3G bills would be ridiculous.
Sony confirmed that all card/disc based games for Vita will be released as a download too...i think vita can beat Onlive, even without Cloud based games
Remote play..... In a way that, is like turning your PS3 into a private Cloud gaming server for the Vita..... And on top of that its free, all's you need is a fast/ good enough internet connection on both ends......
Onlive overall better butt wont beat psp, because you'll need wifi, and GOOD wifi to run it more than 50 frame rates, but i would rather play cod mw3 on the go than someshitty cod game on psp vita :)
- Mobile phones on traditional plans have limited data usage, streaming and transmitting user data will probably give you less than 2 hrs of gameplay a month. - Wireless internet over 3G/4G has an inherent latency of 200ms, add that on top of Onlive's latency and you have yourself a complex slideshow. - One of the biggest battery killers is transmitting on a 3G/4G signal, and yet Onlive will require both receive and send on a constant basis. Nice to dream big, but Onlive mobile ain't going to happen.
Idk, personally i had a IPAD but i just switched back to my Ipod because it's not really portable so i don't see how this can weaken the Vita. Yes you can bring your IPAD around but it's pretty big.. not really a good alternative for Portable Gaming. Now Onlive itself is a good idea and works well. Anyone who wants to start gaming without a console or without the need of a highend computer this is a very well alternative.
Like how it weakened consoles. /s If onlive really is great and popular than how come I don't see/hear them talking about sales. Companies talk about sales when ever they are doing well.
OnLive is still 10 years away from being relevant, internet infrastructure is just not there yet in 90% of the world, especially WiFi
OnLive doesn't work in most part of the world and A LOT people don't even know what it is. Also, you always need an internet connection, which you need to pay for and it's not always reliable. Though I like the idea of OnLive.
Onlive is a great concept but people are not ready for it yet like my self and many others. plus by the time people start moving towards it we shall see sony's own onlive like system plus the great thing about playstion brand is it has so many great studio's where as online don't have crap sorry its that simple lol plus how in your right mind can u compare ps vita to onlive psp even kills onlive forget about ps vita
It would need a hella fast wifi connection. Oh and a heads up for people: onlive's homefront 30 min demo doesn't block out multiplayer for some reason. That means we can play it infinitely in 30 min segments lol.
Onlive sounds good on paper. But you need a godly internet connection in order to take full advantage of it.
Anyone willing to pay for a OnLive monthly plan, and then buy a game that may be taken off their servers after 3 years (read the small print) is out of their minds. I was in one of the testing phases of OnLive and that was the immediate kill switch for me. The selection sucked and then I read that even if I bought the game they could take it off their servers which would make it unplayable was insane. No thanks. PSVita day 1
