Amnesia: The Dark Descent sells more than 400K copies

DSOGaming writes: "Amnesia is one of our favourite horror games and although Frictional Games stated the first week after the game’s launch that they hoped for higher sales, the game took off and surpassed even their dream estimates of 100K copies. And get ready everyone because we have even more good news for you."

They needed to sell 35,000 to stay in business, good to hear. Bring on more horror!

Solid_Snake-3081d ago

good to hear this. i spent more on replacement boxer shorts than i did the game.

keep up the good work guys.

badz1493081d ago

I heard it's a great game too. personally I'm not into horror genre but still, congrats!

ATi_Elite3081d ago

Well they most certainly can afford to use a more advance game engine next time around and add more to the game!

Amnesia was very very good!

meetajhu3081d ago

i will never play this game. It scared the shit out of me. I almost got a heart attack like i've never been scared like that before even when a tiger stood in front of me.

They raised the bar in Survival Horror.

Most scariest game so far.

Nice, I'm sure this will more than fund their next project or two :)

john23081d ago

Imagine a forror FPS (similar to Amnesia) with an engine that could rival the iD Tech 5 or CryEngine 3. Oh boy, it would be F' awesome :D

Pandamobile3081d ago

Or just a Frictional game on CryEngine 3.

Ducky3081d ago (Edited 3081d ago )

I kind of like the engine they're using.

Horror really isn't about visuals, it's about sound. A game like Amnesia can have the visuals of Minecraft and still be scary because it messes with your mind.

good more power to the awesome F***ed up devs who created this master piece.....all horror games take note this is how a real horror game should be, no defense no guns just pure survival.......and by survival i mean running away screaming or hiding in a closet

Motorola3081d ago

That would be amazing but being a game developer, you have limitations to how scary something could be. As an indie game dev, you have less if not as much of a limitation as shown with Amnesia and Penumbra. I love user made mods because there is no limit >:D Like some Half Life 2 mod I played the other day.

WooHooAlex3081d ago

I would have bought this game a long time ago if I had the PC to run it.

1PC2PS333603081d ago (Edited 3081d ago )

this will run on a 5 year old pc with a single core and 2gb ram dude.....what are you typing on??

That's practically a cell phones specs!

OS: Windows XP/Vista/7
Processor: 2.0Ghz - Low budget CPUs such as Celeron or Duron needs to be at about twice the CPU speed
Memory: 2 GB
Hard Drive: 3GB
Graphics: Radeon X1000/GF 6 - Integrated graphics and very low budget cards might not work.

Motorola3081d ago (Edited 3081d ago )

Integrated Intel graphics dont work and integrated Nvidia graphics run it like garbage. I tried. I bought a 50 dollar GPU though and maxed it out at 1080p though. lol

WooHooAlex3081d ago

I know. This computer is used strictly for web browsing.
It has integrated graphics, everything else more than checks out but I've never really wanted to play games on my PC.

I'm planning on building a rig next year to play Diablo 3 tho.
