Game Podunk Editor, Marcus Estrada writes, "The Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) recently published their annual summary of physical versus digital good spending. Their findings were that there was marked decline in physical game sales this year, but growth in the digital market. In 2008-2009 the percentage of physical sales was at 80-90% but currently lies at 71%. While physical game still beat out digital, it is a surprisingly rapid gain. Beyond that, the amount of households purchasing digital game content (DLC) totals up to nearly half at 44%. What does this mean? Are we fast approaching the end of physical game content (and other forms of media) as we know it? I don't think so."
