XSeed Left With Tough Decision as Falcom Preps for Huge Success

"With The Legend of Heroes: Ao no Kiseki for PSP set to arrive in Japanese shops on September 29th, most retailers have put in their orders, and even Sony shares Falcom’s astonishment at the figures. Some 200,000 copies have been ordered — to be clear, that’s not pre-orders by gamers, just orders for on-shelf copies by the stores themselves. Still, it’s quite a number, indicative of the popularity of The Legend of Heroes in Japan. Internationally, the game would be extremely lucky to reach half that amount, which puts localization house XSeed Games right smack between a rock and a hard place." -PSLS

Falcom should release a Vita bundle pack of the whole Trails in the Sky Trilogy for XSeed to bring to its NA audience. If they start working now they might finish up just in time for the holiday 2012 cash....

I think that's pushing it too much ^^;;
But I hope they succeed with LOH, I want to see them make games for PSV.

Text localization isn't too difficult. Voice localization is much harder. And I'm sure if it were extremely difficult, Xseed would ask Funcom for a higher percentage of sales.

Legend of Heroes is notorious for its extremely difficult level of Japanese text, though. It IS difficult. And it contains about 3x the amount of a normal JRPG to boot. :(

The voice work for all 3 in the trilogy is already recorded.

They sell books that contain the entire scripts for each game. These games are MASSIVE. Trust me.

"Text localization isn't too difficult"
lol dude, you don't know shit about this game
Trails in the Sky (TitS) 1st chapter contains 1.5 MILLION KANJI CHARACTERS!
http://www.gameinformer.com...
It's equivalent for 600-800 pages novel in english!!!!
If you said that's stuff isnt too difficult, than i suggest you help Xseed to finish the 2nd chapter -_-
Cause 2nd chapter will be twice from that size

FYI too, TitS doesn't had many voice act (you only heard the characters voice only in battles).

Last FYI, it's not Funcom but Falcom.

@Crescentfang
Can't wait for 2nd chapter, 3rd chap, and Zero / Ao no Kiseki...

trails made good profit for them when the system is "just as dead"

The second would make the same profit.

tiffac5053d ago

I hope XSeed can make money off this game, they are one of my favorite publishers out there for obvious reasons.

They must succeed. I want to see them make games for PSV.

Pity. They had really good localization.

isarai234d ago

I dunno, it had issues, heck they had to redub like half of 8 after release because it was lacking.

Asterphoenix234d ago

I think it would be good to spend up localisation. If most of it done themselves then if Falcom people have some people that are good at English they can correct some errors in it quickly. Despite the concern of western localisers potentially losing their jobs which Trails localisation was really good at XSeed years ago.

I played this on Vita a long time ago. I’ll play a new game for sure. Just release a physical PS5 copy and I’m in- I still have an unopened collectors edition somewhere with the rest of my unopened collectors editions. Someday I’ll open some of them when I get my game room set-up.

I downloaded Tokyo Xanadu on my ps4 on a sale, I have yet to play it, haha.

Ummmm fk yea. I love their games. Keep em coming. They are some of the few studios games that give me that old school vibe. Not saying others don't just that falcon kills it.
