Metroid Other M Review - LAG

LAG - "Metroid Other M is the sequel to Super Metroid for the SNES and the tenth game in the main series. It is the first Metroid game developed by Team Ninja, who are well known for the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series. It goes away from the first person gameplay from the Prime series and returns the series to a more traditional style of gameplay with some emphasis on action based gameplay. Metroid Other M is a game that is very story driven and it was supposed to be the game where players go deeper in Samus’s story. With a new developer, gameplay similar to the older entries in the series, and a deeper story, Metroid Other M would seem to have all of the elements to be a great game. However, Metroid Other M does have a few problems."

I think Metroid Other M could have been a master piece if it wasn't for the limited storage capacity. That being said, I think team Ninja just couldn't add more hidden corridor and a more diverse weaponry option which wouldn't be a enough space on a dual layer disc. So, I m thinking the Wii U optical storage space should be more than enough to make Other M sequel better.

In My opinion,I think Team Ninja did a great Job making Other M considering the limited storage space their had to work with. Nuff said.

hmm maybe, but I think that was their goal to make it more a ninja gaiden style, less metroid..little more appealing to wider crows, metroid games for some people are hard as hell (i meant puzzles and hidden things) ...so maybe (I mean maybe) that's not a storage thing..

still it's a great game and I love it.. and I'll play it again in some time...

6 out of 10? Harsh! I actually agree with everyone of your points, but just wasnt as frustrated by Other M's flaws. The good definitely outweighed the bad with this one. Id give it an 8.

Nioh games definitely up there at the top alongside Ninja Gaiden BLK.

LoveSpuds459d ago

There is a decent fan base for the Nioh games, but still think they are criminally overlooked and under appreciated.

I just bought the PS5 collection to replay them again with all their DLC, a sweet collection for my games shelf for sure.

Yea, those gardens haven't been plowed in over 10 years now though. Imagine if they cultivated it, let it grow again.

Amazing what ya can do with a samurai sword lol 🤣

tehpees3459d ago

The honourable mention though.

TheSenorCheese459d ago

originally it wasn't going to be included because of their take on Samus' character. But the gameplay's actually not bad.

Vits458d ago

Honestly, I don't know if we can even blame them for that take. Nintendo's Sakamoto was credited as the writer and from what we learned later with the Retro Studios interviews for the Prime series, Nintendo apparently never saw Samus as this stoic badass that most of the west imagined her as. Going as far as describing her as "motherly".

Ninja Gaiden was dope but I don't really care for alot of their games.

Well it almost killed Metroid so…

PhillyDillyDee704d ago

Yeah we all loved how you took a stoic badass and turned her into a whiny shrew. All those writers should be sacked.

Terry_B704d ago

Sometimes, I doubt that Reggie was that great for Nintendo after all.

2D Metroid Retrospective: Bring on the Remakes

VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "The early-mid 2000s saw something of a golden age for Metroid games. After an eight year hiatus, Metroid burst back onto the scene in dramatic fashion. Largely buoyed by the critical and financial success of Metroid Prime (at least, relative to other Metroid releases), Metroid saw a whopping six new titles between 2002 and 2007, as well as one rather bizarre pinball spin-off that wound up being much better than it had any right to be. Metroid had never been this popular before."

Never though the day would come where I say this but I’d be fine with having every 2D Metroid remade the way Dread plays.

INMATEofARKHAM923d ago

I just want them all in the Switch.
