GameDynamo - "Cutscenes and movie cinematics have come a long way. Whether it's Old Snake crawling through the 'microwave chamber' in MGS4, Dom finding out the fate of his wife in Gears of War 2, or almost any of the dialogue scenes in the Uncharted and Dragon Age series, in-game cutscenes have become so good, they've mostly replaced prerendered movies.
Last week, I did a list of the top 10 prerendered and animated cutscenes throughout gaming history. Here's a look at my top 10 in-game cutscenes, that is, cinematics using the in-game assets rendered in the game engine."
Ayi Sanchez: "Old work. I did this 10 years ago now as part of a material test for a remaster of Gears of War 2 that never happened."
Weird, in mean they had no studios to make anything really new so there's a part of me thats kinda glad they scrapped it. If they released this back then it would of gotten ridiculed for remakes and remastering stuff. Now they have new and interesting games so the collection is harmless.
Geez, Xbox, something like that I would’ve bought Day 1. Great business decisions over there.
I can only assume the the Gears of War Remaster flopped so they decided to scrap the other remakes?
Seems short sighted to me as I really enjoyed the 1st remaster. Regardless, I'll snap up some remakes to play on my PS5.
As PlayStation celebrates its 30th anniversary, let's explore the best PlayStation games Sony has to offer.
There's too many games to choose from
No Metal geat solid 1,2,3,4?
No Resident evil?
No Silent hill?
No Midnight club 3?
No NfS Underground 2?
No Final Fantasy?
No Burnout 3?
No Dragon quest 8?
No Days gone?
No Ace combat?
No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head
PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.
Gary Green said: Tempting as it is to dedicate our first installment of PlayStation Icons to a franchise-leader like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, or even Sackboy, instead I’m choosing a character that I, like so many others, connected with on a personal level. He’s a moody, world-weary teen, a proud loner with no time for the drama of others, and yet he’s also a hero just waiting for the motivation to unleash his full potential. He’s a warrior. He’s a leader. He’s the king of internal monologues. It’s time to meet Squall Leonhart.
Final Fantasy 8's cutscenes were just one of the many amazing things about the game.
I mean at the time I was blown away with even the intro fight between Squall and Seifer, obviously I was more blown away when I got more into the game. The Garden Fight was amazing :)
I would love to see what this would be like on the PS3...or knowing Square PS4.
Come on Square get started on a FF7 remake so you can do the same for FF8 and FF9.
Would ResidentEvil4's knife fight count?
Number 1! is Raiden vs Vamp! that's good, well deserved. That really is the best cutscene this gen.
Though I think it's weird nothing from MGS3 is on the list also nothing from God of War series, but a Gears2 cutscene is at number 2...hmm..
what about Uncharted 2?
Day of the Tentacle and Chrono Trigger, that's some old school goodness!
