XMNR: Tribes: Ascend is being demoed for the first time publicly at QuakeCon this weekend and a second video of gameplay footage from the showfloor has hit.
Online games have become the pastime of choice for everyone, no matter their age. And here's a list of the best free online games for 2017.
Back in March of 2013, Hi-Rez broke the news to its Tribes: Ascend fans that they would need to take several months away from the game in order to focus all its efforts on SMITE. Several months became more than two years, and fans were beginning to believe that Hi-Rez would simply never return to Tribes.
But the recent 1.1 update -- a.k.a. the Out of the Blue Update -- has proven those naysayers wrong.
If you thought Hi-Rez Studios were done with Tribes Ascend, think again. Today they are launching a major update to the free to play shooter that fans of the original games might just approve of.
Looks a bit like a HALO ripoff.
Nice looks fun im glad they are rebithing tribes as halo and section 8 riped em off,pc and 360 for me.
is it on ps3
First off I'm an old school Starseige Tribes player. I loved loved loved that game! Ever since then all the sequels that came out was never able to capture that feel of Tribes1 but I have to say this is the first time I've felt like the spirit of the first Tribes game has been reborn into a new generation. I'm excited! Just hope there are the GIGANTIC maps again where airships were key to winning. I remember picking up slow lumbering heavies in the middle of the desert then dropping them off to wreck havoc inside enemy bases. Those were great times.
Oh and I KNEW some punk kid who barely popped out of their mommy was going to say some dumb remark regarding Halo.
Something needs to be clarified when comparing this game to Halo. Both sides are correct, unfortunately.
Yes, Tribes came before Halo. I doubt a good chunk of today's gamers know this. Bungie themselves have said they were influenced by Tribes when making the game back in 1999/2000. However, Hi-Rez is putting a lot of modern elements into Tribes: Ascend that can be seen in games like Halo and Call of Duty. Spotting, sticky grenades, SMG's, pistols, etc. The list goes on and on, so the comparison is valid.
As a diehard T1 fan, the gameplay video sort of got my hopes up. The weapon size is still an issue that should be dealt with seeing as everyone has been complaining about it for months now. However, once another Tribes veteran gave his feedback from playing the game at QuakeCon I started to lose hope again. Skiing is apparently even worse than it was in Vengeance. That right there is enough to make a lot of people walk away from the game.
Being F2P is the only reason a lot of diehard Tribes fans will actually give it a shot. Would love to see the skiing (and a lot of other things) changed, but I'm not holding my breath.
