While Blizzard has slowed down its World of Warcraft subscription churn, it hasn't stopped the bleeding yet: according to the company, the subscription count dropped slightly to 11.1 million worldwide during the quarter ending June 30.
Misleading title. The article clearly states that the subscription decline is not as large as their previous decline, but Blizzard has seen the pattern in previous expansions aswell.
It's not really a misleading title if their subscriptions are on the decline. Doesn't matter how slow the decline is, it's still a decline tbh.
Knowing that World of Warcraft recently went F2P up to level 20, that will surely bring in additional subscriptions, so stating without extra empathy to that and their previous decline - it is kind of misleading. Atleast you could have put the entire Gamesutra title in.
"Knowing that World of Warcraft recently went F2P up to level 20, that will surely bring in additional subscriptions, so stating without extra empathy to that and their previous decline - it is kind of misleading." Where was that shown to be factual?
im going for The old republic next. not a massive ork n elfe fan really.
Some people believe that WoW is immortal and that it will never loose subscribers. I remember when EQ came out people said the same thing. Whats true is that after so many years of playing the same game people get bored with it and they move to something else.
Indeed i expect Guild Wars 2 and SW:OR to take a chunk off too. I mean come on its Bioware were talking about here
One of the reasons why i left World of Warcraft. Is that all the quests are the same. Its always kill 6 creatures or collect X items its never anything different. Which is why i am interested in the old republic because the Missions are based of a heavy storyline. Which should mean that there should be a large variety of quests.
wow is history! people want something new. It's boring to tank, heal, dps!
can't wait for guild wars 2 and to try out old republic. galaxies was not too great of a game but hopefully with bioware there will be an awesome star wars game in old republic.
