The return of one of last-gen's very best shooters finally looks to be happening. But here's how it has to happen
With the launch of Homefront: The Revolution, developed by the remnants of Free Radical, the question on a lot of people's minds is "Where is TimeSplitters?". This arcticle is an in-depth look into the TimeSplitters series as well as it's developers Free Radical, who later went on to become Dambuster studios, looking into where it all went wrong and also diving into their secret projects.
Now this is a great article, this is what n4g use to be. Good articles with tons of information unlike the n4g of today that's all about fanboy wars mainly ps4 fanboys
Great article, l just wish these guys and gals could make a new Timesplitters game instead of the ones Crytek wants them to make. A new Timesplitters game with local four player split-screen gaming would be amazing. Sadly it looks like no new game is in development.
"Timesplitters 4 will likely never happen, the story behind that is a long and complicated one."
It's sad because TimeSplitters 4 would be huge and push PS4 sales even further.
Timesplitters has always been considered a wonderful oddity in the industry. Nothing compares to the series' wacky antics and insane multiplayer action. Unfortunately despite critical success and a rabid fan base the franchise is struggling against modern forces threatening its very existence.
Triad Gamer takes a look at the Timesplitters series and investigates why after 9 years the franchise is still waiting on a 4th iteration.
Never played these games, yet heard good stuff bout it.
Here's to hoping for an HD Collection.
No Battlefield
No Call of Duty
Timesplitters is THE BEST shooter i have played, it's fun, it's addictive, it's highly competitive,
SO MANY GAMEMODES
SO MANY CHARACTERS
SO MANY LEVELS
SO MANY GUNS
MAPMAKER!!
the mapmaker is such an underrated part of the TS series. It is among my favorite shooters ever and probably my favorite PS/PS2 era shooter (the other in the running would be Red Faction and Black).
I really can't wait to see a new one, Timesplitters and Killer Instinct are the two franchises I want to see revived most, and I have basically given up all hope of Rare making a new KI.
So long as Crytek doesn't make it. I'd hate for it to have huge blocks of rectangular grain and lines going across the screen like the 360 version of Crysis2.
I loveloveloved TS2, never made it through the third. Here's to hoping the new one goes back to it's ts2 roots.
