Review: Earth Defense Force: Insect Armaggedon | DualShockers

Joel Taveras, writes, "I won’t even try to lie to you people. When I heard the loud thud that was the package containing Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon hitting my front door, I panicked. I’m pretty sure that I even cringed a bit as I opened the parcel. The box cover alone is something that, under normal circumstances, would have me looking the other way as it screams mediocrity. Good thing I was taught to not judge a book by its cover as I would have probably missed this fun little package."

I played this a bit back at PAX, and I can certainly see the fun aspect being just the weapon combos and killing big bugs. At least, that's what I took away from it. Sometimes, if you have a purely FUN game, the visuals being "average" don't really matter much. ;)

And that's the whole thing, people will read 6.5 and completely write it off. But the score itself is definitely above average and this game is definitely fun. Buggy at times, but fun.

I too played this at PAX, and it was relatively fun. Of course, the game wasn't appealing graphically, so to speak; but it definitely had moments of "fun." There was little story to the game, from what I recall, and more bug killing which made the game somewhat bland. Overall, though, the score deems the game good and playable. I would definitely give the game a whirl.

The game is just like the first every TECHNICAL sense of the word, it's average. Graphics, presentation, etc.

But when it comes to just plain having a good time, most games can't touch it.

I've heard some good things about this game. Might need to check it out.

I thought the first game was funny as hell.
