Capcom Doesn't Need Your Permission To Choose Characters in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3

There's been no shortage of controversial news swirling around Capcom this week, but this one might take the cake. Apparently, a spokesman for the company alluded to the fact that Capcom can basically do what they want without regard for the fans when it comes to choosing which new characters to put in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.

"He also states that if Capcom "wants to include Firebrand and not Mega Man," based on what it believes may make a more balanced videogame, it can do that, because Capcom is making the game. "Not the fans."

Didn't they ask fans who they wanted to see as DLC. They had a thread on the forums. 6 characters for Marvel and 6 for Capcom who you wanted to see as DLC

Peaceful_Jelly5077d ago (Edited 5077d ago )

And MegaMan was the #1 most requested character on those polls in America and Japan.

zerocrossing5077d ago

If Capcom wants to sell copies of MVC3 they better include characters the fans want as DLC.

bruddahmanmatt5076d ago

They're 100% right. They can include and exclude whatever characters they want from the roster. On the flipside to that coin, I can buy or NOT BUY whatever F'ing game I want as well.

Dear Capcom,

whatever the case, one thing is for absolute certain: whoever was the artist for the MVC2 drawings is by far the best artist on the planet

No computer rendering, no digital additives

just simple penciling and coloring

ahhh bliss

edit: haha wow i just noticed my avatar is one of his drawings. i put that up years ago

I'm partial to Jim Lee's work.

9thWonder5076d ago

that thread wasnt from Capcom itself just from a mod on the site who said he/she would send the poll to Capcom but if they dont need our permission to add in what characters we want in the game along with modes and whatever then we dont need theirs to leave the game on the shelves

princejb1345076d ago

wow he said "capcom makes the game not the fans", well we pay you for the game if you don't like money than FU

This article fails 'cuz it took Jim Sterling seriously.

Ingram5076d ago (Edited 5076d ago )

Ok, I suppose they don't need my "permission".

Do they need my money?

blackburn105076d ago

Exactly. Some developers have this new attitude that what we want doesn't count forgetting that we could just simply NOT buy the game. Then where would they be? Like Ubisoft saying they don't want to give us BGE 2 for current consoles but want to wait until next gen. Well suppose I don't want to wait? I could easily not buy your games this or any generation ever again. They seem to not get that buying their games is what makes up their revenue. Telling us our systems don't matter or trying to kiss up to one system over another or telling us what we want or lashing out at potential buyers is not the way to help me buy your games. I can easily ignore it just like anyone can.I don't HAVE to buy MVC3.

Cpt_kitten5076d ago

are we gonna see 5 releases of MVC3 like street fighter 4

money grabbing at its best

KwietStorm_BLM5076d ago (Edited 5076d ago )

There are only 3 versions of SFIV. And at least those released over a year apart and weren't full price.

PIayStation5076d ago

No permission
No money

Don't like it? stop making games.

Capcom reveals its PC game [digital] sales overshadow console, and it's only growing

The earnings reports of Capcom's Fiscal year 2024 showcase the growth of PC over console, with 60% of game sales being made on the former.

Vits19d ago

What’s interesting is that, given how well their games sell, it’s very likely most of them fall into the 25/75 revenue split bracket. The larger ones, like Monster Hunter, are in the 20/80 bracket.

So even accounting for the vastly superior regional pricing on PC, I wouldn’t be surprised if revenue-wise from digital sales, both platforms are close, or if PC is ahead as well.

neutralgamer199218d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Yes PC is the biggest platform and it has definitely improved as a home console of sort plug and play. It's the only platform with actual freedom for gamers with modding. I was a console gamer for over 38 years and now I only play on Pc. Whether you are buying pre-built or building it yourself it's now easier than ever before to jump in

And my experience with pc gamers has been excellent, they are helpful with any questions on pc boards

FPS_D3TH18d ago

As a gamer who also loves replaying his old favorite titles, possibly with a few mods as well, I can’t imagine ever getting another console.

Profchaos18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

They spoke about resident evil and monster hunter I would actually find the monster hunter breakdown more interesting tbh as I've always felt like this game would be at home on PC

but for resident evil it's always felt like a PlayStation mainstay despite having exclusivity elsewhere likely because it was where I first played it. The game feels like it's begging to be played lights off in the loungeroom late at night or also in VR I've never been as scared as I was playing re7 in VR

dveio18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Is this really suprising? Looking at the evolution of the Switch, X|S and Playstation 5?

Eonjay18d ago

The biggest cause is probably the lack of game purchases on the Xbox platform. Also keep in mind this is only digital sales so there is a chunk of sales not being shown here.
