Batman Arkham City Will Be 'The Most Detailed Open World Game Players Have Ever Seen'

GB: "One of the most notable aspects of the gameplay in Arkham Asylum was that it took place in a kind of a closed world where Batman did not had all the freedom in the world. With Arkham City, Rocksteady are aiming to make the game not only a huge open world game but also the most detailed ever."

Well I really hope it's not just eye candy. I want them to ensure us that we will want to use and explore every square inch. I am am really curious to see what they do. I personally wasn't expecting the city just to be open since this openworlds fit the Spiderman/Superman universe better. I don't see Batman just solving petty crimes, but this is no doubt. I am pretty damn sure Rocksteady will deliver one of the greatest games ever made.

Most detailed open world eh?
Arkham City
Assasin's Creed Revelations

I am glad we are getting games that venture out in the world this year. I love the freedom to just explore.

BeastlyRig2655d ago (Edited 2655d ago )

The Witcher 2!!

And it actually challenges players.

Voxelman2655d ago

The Witcher 2 is my favourite game of the year so far but it's not really open world...

Mr2Good32655d ago

I thinking the same thing. It's gone be nice but let's us decide its place in the open world genre.

Thatguy-3102655d ago

Wait how is it going the most detailed OPEN WORLD when they clearly stated before that it wasn't going to be OPEN WORLD? O.o

NukaCola2655d ago (Edited 2655d ago )

This true. I was expecting this, chunks like metroid prime, open but split into areas you can travel to via a vehicle. That feels more Batman than solving petty crimes, which is more a Spiderman thing

Inside_out2654d ago (Edited 2654d ago )

They are describing the Batman world that the game is taking place in and in relation to their last Batman game. These guys are very talented...

I wouldn't put anything pass these guys. They have built themselves quite a following. There is no doubt that their new game will impress.

btw...I hope they incorporate the new Unreal updates that have made Gears 3 look so phenomenal...especially the smoke and lighting effects.

'The Most Detailed Open World Game Players Have Ever Seen'

Thats quite a claim, best of luck with honouring it. :D

Laypoof2655d ago

Uhhhh yeah...
That's a tough claim, I guess we can only hope it's true

ShoryukenII2654d ago

They didn't make that claim. The site is just looking for hits. They said that their objective is to make 'The Most Detailed Open World Game Players Have Ever Seen.' The article title makes them sound more arrogant than they are.

Fishy Fingers2655d ago

I'm not sure if it's really fair to compare to what I'd call a "true" open world game, such as Just Cause 2, Crysis or even GTA.

But from what I've seen the game looks incredible, which is no surprise as the original is also a great looking game. Especially on PC, all cranked up, you wouldnt know it's several years old, it still hangs with the best of the modern crowd.

limewax2654d ago

Crysis isn't actually open world though is it, its fairly open levels

CernaML2654d ago

Crysis is open world. Crysis 2 isn't.

Calm Down Sunshine2655d ago (Edited 2655d ago )

I hope it's true and all but.. Assassin's Creed is going to take a hell of a lot to beat..

As well as Crysis of course.
