Famitsu Teases Kingdom Hearts III Details

Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura has revealed a few small details about Kingdom Hearts III in Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu (via Andriasang).

Nomura said that KHIII will be the last game for the series' main antagonist, Xehanort. But that won't mark the end of the franchise. Apparently a framework is already in place for future sequels, with Sora retained as the main character.

I just posted a blog about Japan and it's lack of impressive games over this gen.

Then I saw this and thought, "Finally".

Now after reading it, I'm back to "WTF Japan".

Regarding KH3 and Kingdom Hearts as a franchise I don't understand why you'd put multiples games that affect the MAIN franchises storyline onto other consoles besides the one it's been on from the beginning. That doesn't make any kind of sense. Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 were PlayStation exclusives, so why would you make the 3DS version (a console that just came out, and isn't performing as well as hoped) have a story element that affects or involves the main games in the franchise. It's stupid. I could understand doing it for the DS with 3DS exclusive features since there are over 100 million DS out there and DS games are playable on 3DS, but that was a stupid move forcing people to buy the hardware just to play it.

That being said it seems like Kingdom Hearts 3 will be a multiplatform game. If what IGN says is true we're going to see a bunch of Final Fantasy Collection titles (each probably consisting of 3 games FF:C 1 - 3, FF:c 4 - 6, FF:C 7 - 9, and FF:C 10 - 12), and 2 Kingdom Hearts Collections (KH 1 & 2, and KH handheld games released for consoles). In then end we'll see Kingdom Hearts on PS3, 360, and probably Wii U as well, and given Sqaure's track record this gen I can say all of this confidently.

i'm excited for this, but i haven't played none of the spin-offs, it makes me mad that they are on different handhelds and they're necessary for the story

beavis4play4668d ago

yea - square enix has ruined another franchise.......at least - for me, they have.
i LOVED the first 2 but have no interest now that they've pimped it out to so many different handhelds and ignored consoles for so long.

For some reason I don't think this is a game that would be released this gen. With how long Nomura takes to release his games, I could easily see this being a lunch title for the ps4/xbox 720.

As I was saying in another article, as long as they make all the games after KH2 first game out in one package for the PS3 (so we can catch up) then I'll be fine because let's face it before KH2 came out you had the GBA Chain of Memories where if you didn't play it you would be really confused about what's going on in KH2. So please Sqaure have every game in one big package for KH before KH3 comes out....I think we can admit that by the time KH3 comes out I'm sure Sqaure can take Dream Drop Distance and 358/2 Days to the PS3 since they would of been out for ages.

I don't understand how you can have a 3DS game which continues the story onto the main game on the PS3. It's kind of like, don't you want us to enjoy the story in the main trilogy or do you want us to be confused the entire time. They should of stuck to the PSP and PSV for spin off's

At least we know they're working on it.

stonecold34668d ago

im happy because i got both of kh 1 ,2 on ps2 would be nice if they did an hd collection for the ps3 as for kh3 will get day one as well same with ffvs 13 .

SoundGamer4668d ago

Do want.

I hope we get a reveal at the next Square-Enix party.

It has been too long since Kingdom Hearts was on a home console, where it really belongs.

Don't get me wrong, I own all of the KH games, down to Re: CoM and 358/2 days on the DS and BBS on the PSP, but it doesn't feel the same as it did on the big screen.

Anyway, here's hoping!

Final Fantasy XVI Has Finally Given Donald Duck A Worthy Opponent

For a long time, it's been widely accepted amongst Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts fans that Donald Duck is the most powerful mage ever to exist, mainly due to his use of the stupidly powerful Zettaflare spell towards the end of Kingdom Hearts 3. This spell is one step up from Teraflare, a spell which was used in Final Fantasy XIV that was so powerful that it completely wiped out the base game, giving the developers a canonical reason to let them bin everything and start again from scratch.

Now you're armed with this information, you can see how it was pretty surprising for Donald Duck of all characters to bust out Zettaflare and establish himself as the most powerful character in Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts lore. However, now that Final Fantasy XVI has arrived and delivered a whole new cast of characters, a new challenger has arrived to provide Donald with some much needed competition.

Final Fantasy's Strongest Canonical Magic User Is... Donald Duck?

Final Fantasy features many strong characters, but an unlikely character from Kingdom Hearts is able to cast the most powerful spell ever seen

Final Fantasy's strongest magic user is Donald Duck, who never appears in a final fantasy game.

This Kingdom Hearts Boss' Unpredictability Gave Me Sekiro Vibes

Kingdom Hearts is filled with otherworldly boss battles, but only one stands out like a phoenix dancing with ethereal grace across the night sky. Before we embark upon a discussion concerning Kingdom Hearts' exceptional boss battles, it may be prudent to first reflect on the evolution of the criteria for appraising video game bosses. This criterion has undergone a major metamorphosis over the past decade; one that owes much to the profound influence of From Software and its iconic Souls series.

"Yozora is much more than a grueling secret encounter; he is a reflection of what Kingdom Hearts' bosses should be"

No thank you. If every boss in Kingdom Hearts was like Yozora, the series would be unplayable. That's not to say that they shouldn't include such challenges, but making them fundamental to the game would be too much. And don't say that this is what the From Software games are, because Yozora is absolutely harder than most of the bosses in those games. He is waaay faster, has a ludicrous number of abilities (and does them in random order AND can chain most of them together), and punishes you severely if you make a mistake. On top of that, you have to survive this onslaught for a really long time because of how much health he has. It's borderline too much - for me at least. Still, it's a stunning battle.

OMNlPOTENT360d ago

I agree, while I do really enjoy the Yozora fight, I think it's far too difficult to be anything more than an optional boss. However, I do believe that there should be more bosses that are in the same weight and size class as Sora, as the majority of those in KH3 were the best fights. The giant heartless bosses just aren't as enjoyable.
