Elder Scrolls V Skyrim: Console or PC version – Inevitable debate

"With Elder Scrolls V Skyrim now approaching on the horizon, gamers can now start to really get excited about the upcoming launch regardless of if you’re planning to pick up a PC version or console version.

But while many of you will naturally agree that the PC version of the game will look the most impressive from a graphics point of view, it will be interesting to see just how close Bethesda has managed to get the console versions running in comparison."

It depends! If you want the best comfort & convenience on a big screen and a big soft couch I say go with console!

If you want 1080p, 60fps, better quality AA, mods that give extra content for free & overall more bang for buck in skyrim, no going to the store to buy games with the pc hooked up to a huge tv with a 360 or Ps3 controller with the best comfort on a big soft couch then I say go with pc!

That's all..

I enjoy the same comfort &convenience on a big screen and a big soft couch with my PC

Basically PC Wins.

But the problem with PC it consumes a lot of energy, especially if you have custom built for Gaming.

You can get the same comfort and convenience on a pc, most people just either don't bother or don't know any better. I have my PC hooked up to a 47" 1080p 240hz LED TV right now.

Edit: Forgot to add, both the 360 and PS3 controllers are compatible with the PC also. With any freeware keymapping program like joytokey they can be used on any PC game.

I would defiantly get this for PC if only mine wasnt poor. I just need a new PC and I could put my old 9600GSO into it and it would play this game great.

I will probably end up playing this on my 360/PS3 even thought I had Morrowind and oblivion on my PC :(

Unless I get a New PC by then!!! Time to start saving some extra money here and there, need a new PC to play diablo 3 next year anyways. I wish my current PC could play the new Deus EX tho, would much rather play that game on PC.

EDIT-Ive only played TES III and IV on PC, I can only imagine how annoying the menus will be for me if I play on console....I better start saving a little for a new PC then.

Console for me also. I just have to decide between 360 and PS3.

If you want to please PS3 owners then show off some footage for it. I don't expect them to show off console footage from the Xbox 360 and not show anything for the PS3.

I'm expecting Quakecon will show off a ton of footage...and if it's all shown off for the 360 again then you know something is up. Yeah I get it "It's the best to demo it on" but if you really want to back up your word about each version being the same you work around that.

Many devs have claimed their game was exactly the same on both consoles, but that hasn't really happened yet. They both have a few games that are substantially better than the other's version, and most are so close as to make no difference, but none are exactly the same. I have no fear about the PS3 version though. It will be awesome just like Oblivion was.

Console for me, not because I don't like PC's, but because I've always played it on consoles.

RedDead2658d ago (Edited 2658d ago )

I was like you, I was no gamer back then.
Jaredhart, it's all the same. One is better tech wise is all.

jaredhart2658d ago

It depends if you like to game on a console or a PC...duh.

newhumanbreed2658d ago

Unfortunately, I don't have a decent PC for gaming. So console for me :(
