Ubisoft: "You're never going to keep hardcore Ghost Recon fans happy"

OXM UK: "Ubisoft is conscious that "super-hardcore" Ghost Recon fans yearn for the series to go back to its roots, but according to UK brand manager Matt Benson, commercial realities dictate otherwise."

It's hard to keep old fans (like me) and make new ones at the same time. I was disappointed with the E3 showing this year, But I will still give it a try.

....Waiting YEARS ( 5+...O_o ) to release a game and expect the fans to still be around.

I loved Graw 2 and still feel that it's multi-player was one of the best ever providing features that many devs dream about...they let it all go to waste. Graw 2 released in 2007...what has taken so long???

On top of that laying guys off at Red Storm, the makers of the best part of those games, the multi-player is criminal

Ubisoft has lost hundreds of millions...they should lose more. They obviously don't understand on how to build and feed a fanbase like Halo did and COD is doing now. Wait 5 years to release a follow up and expect anybody to be there is out right dumb. Forcing something like Kinect is INSANE! :/

Even dumber is hiring a guy from THQ and Homefront to head up ANY department related to Ghost Recon, Rainbow six or any other shooter. Then again, it's right in line with your A$$ backwards way of doing things.

Its not necessarily the "hardcore" fans that aren't happy, its the PC fans that always complain. I've been a fan since GR: Jungle Storm on PS2, and I was a huge fan of the PS3/360 version of GRAW2, but I really didn't like the PC versions of GRAW and GRAW2 because they were completely different games where you are inching around corners all the time and you move at a snail's pace through the entire game, because if you get hit by one or two bullets you're dead. Some PC gamers are masochists and enjoy games that aren't fun. I think that the game play footage that I've seen of Future Warrior looked pretty awesome.

It's the same with alot of games, hardcore resident evil fans always are bitching about how it isn't about the horror anymore. As a hardcore resident evil fan I enjoyed resident evil 5, and I'm looking forward to operation racoon city. However if I ever feel like some classic resident evil I fire up my wii and play which ever one I feel. you want classic resident evil buy a wii

Indeed. I think people tend to be much more picky when it comes to military warfare sims, though. There's just something about the genre.

It's totaly differen't with Resident evil, they could add horror but they choose not to ignoring what people want and in the end it will end up like Resident evil 5 with it's forced Co-op...and when that's not bad enough Capcom get a crappy developer to make Operation Raccoon City which looks bad.

I don't see how it's classed as "bitching" when all we want is our favorite horror franchise not to suck. Resident Evil 5 sucked hard...please tell me this didn't look good

But Capcom decided not to go through with it...that's the sad part

it may be tru for lots of games but for Ghost Recon its a bit different Ubisoft change the core gameplay of the Ghost Recon series so many time that you cant fault fans complaining

"And that doesn't mean dumbing down, although obviously the net is very quick to say 'Oh, they're dumbing down Splinter Cell, they're dumbing down this, they're dumbing that'."

but...Conviction WAS dumbed down.

It was shorter, shitter and not the game i expected to play, WHEN IT COMES WITH THE 'SPLINTER CELL' BRAND TAG ON IT.

Wanna make dumb games? Make a new brand. Let people enjoy it. Hardcores won't be left pee'd off that their grail has been tainted and twisted. Hell, i reckon they might end up liking the new game more. Cus it's something diferent for that all new franchise.

Future Soldier has so damn much potential as a Ghost Recon game. Yet it just has to go down the cover system big-boom-bang-path.

It don't need to be so. But it is.

yeah! consoles!!

Back to the pc's roots!

Now I see why there is the two versions!

sometimes it sucks to be mainstream..

look at skyrim!

"Meanwhile, comments about opening the game to a wider audience seem almost designed to further set the core to raging.

“We wanted to take it and make it really accessible,” the producer said.

“… We still have the complexity behind the scenes, but we wanted to make it so that you could pick up the controller and play and it was easy; the average person could get into it.

“We knew we wanted to make the user interface a little bit more open and available … get away from the stats and things like that."

"Hitman: Absolution to be “more accessible” to the masses, still for the core"

Games will only have a hardcore looking outer shell but inside soft and fluffy! Yay!

I know you probably spent a lot on your rig but do you have to constantly bash consoles?

Are you trying to justify your purchase or something? because you really don't need to.
