Fanboys are "stupid" - Periphery's Tom Murphy On Gaming

Tom Murphy is the bassist and one of the founding members of the popular US metal band, Periphery. Periphery have grown significantly in recent years having released their debut self-titled album last year, which was met with rave reviews worldwide. They are about to embark on another worldwide tour from the UK all the way to Australia, but that was not about to stop them from having a chat with us at Hooked Gamers.

No you're stupid and who even listens to metal beside emo children. This article is lame. Do not approve this.

Shackdaddy8362755d ago (Edited 2755d ago )

Lol. Warprincess complaining about an article complaining about fanboys. XD

ZoidsRaven2755d ago

Tell me about it.
It certainly made my day. 7_7

It's the definition of irony. Actually, the truly ironic thing is one answer the guy gives was about fanboys in a three page interview, yet the submitter of the article makes that the centerpiece by making it the title. Check out the actual title of the article: "Talking Gaming with Periphery's Tom Murphy."

Say that again then Parkway Drive will own u

JellyJelly2755d ago (Edited 2755d ago )

"who even listens to metal beside emo children".

Emo children listen to emo. Men with balls of steel listen to metal.

*edit* That Periphery band was some of the worst garbage I've ever heard.

NukaCola2755d ago

My 4yo daughter loves Zappa. What of it?

LightofDarkness2755d ago (Edited 2755d ago )

Yeah, Periphery border the line. They're not metal, really. They owe much more of their sound to emo/post-hardcore, modern metal-core and "match-core" bands, the closest comparison I can give to them is something like Sikth with Meshuggah elements and half the song-writing talent. They're pretty bland and come across as trying way too hard.

Good metal: Death, Cynic, Opeth, early Metallica, Morbid Angel, Emperor, At The Gates, early In Flames, Pantera, Slayer, Akercocke, earlier Children of Bodom, Gojira, Baroness, Mastodon, Necrophagist, Suffocation.... I could go on for days so I'll stop now :)

@NukaCola: give that child a guitar. If she's appreciating Frank Zappa at age 4, there's not telling where that can go!

bloodybutcher2755d ago (Edited 2755d ago )

hearing impared men listen to metal, how can anyone stand sth so loud and screamy:P
come to think of it,my gf used to listen to metal.didn´t find any balls on her.thank god.

D0ffy2755d ago

That's a pretty good list of metal bands. Saw Mastodon live like a week ago and they were seriously awesome. Also Opeth rocks my socks off.

Doesn't change the fact that I love Periphery too though. Guess it's all about taste, like it's always been.

EVILDEAD3602755d ago

Never heard of Periphary but great interview..

@ Light..good list..

Salute the Opeth, In Flames, and Baroness. Of course the Legends like Metallica and Pantera make every list. I even dig 'ilikgame' bringing up Parkway Drive.just listened to the 'Killing with a smile' LP the other day for the first stuff.

I dig a a lot of progressive and bands like Tool, Isis, Iced Earth, Pegasus, and ol school Fates Warning. Don't have the time to search out new bands but love to find a gem or two out there

I'm not emo and I love me some Architects, Whitechapel, and We Butter the Bread with Butter, etc.

Wait, wait, wait. People still use the word emo? I thought that stopped when epic fail became an epic fail in and of itself.

Alos882755d ago

In my opinion metal is generally as far from emo as you can get.

JellyJelly2755d ago

I listen to all kinds of music but rock and metal has a special place in my heart.

There's no drinking music that beats rock.

Bahahahahahaha. Awesome. I'm giving you a bubble.

ZeroChaos2755d ago

Just because he doesn't have any "fanboys" that like his music ;3

Elwenil2755d ago

Sort of odd that a "metal" band's member is talking about fanboys. I think the first time I encountered fanboys it was in metal music. Anyone here old enough to remember the retarded "war" between Metallica and Megadeth fans in the late '80s? Same thing, different topic. People will always like what they like and hate what they don't like.

qwertyz2755d ago

CONSOLE fanboys are stupid because they THINK their consoles are the sh*t when in fact their consoles are a generation behind pc lol even bulletstorm pc and battlefield 1 pc(not even 2 or 3) look better than anything on consoles.

blackburn102755d ago

On that same note PC fanboys are annoying, arrogant, overbearing know it alls who constantly rattle off specs and are only concerned about how fast the game runs and how it looks then gameplay or depth. All extreme fanboys are stupid.
