Crystal Dynamics, developers of Tomb Raider, have stated that they are creating a very different game to Uncharted.

This was one of the best demos at the E3 conferences, MS should have opened with it, not MW3, because that was kinda boring. Hopefully the game is good, been waiting for a good Tomb Raider for a few years now.

MW3 kicked off the M$ press event in complete style with a rock concert like atmosphere...just WoW.

Tomb Raider looked INCREDIBLE...dark, gritty with a edge of your seat intensity. It did remind me a little bit of Deadspace 1 with so much atmosphere and enemies grabbing at you and pulling you but WOW...such a surprise. They say the original demo was 15 minutes long ( like fable journey ) but M$ didn't have the space.

If M$ would of followed that up with the Ubisoft " the definition of insanity " Far cry 3 demo, people would of fainted.

Gears Of war, Fable, Halo 4 and Elmo...0_o...what else could you ask

btw...listening to certain fanboys complain about a woman moaning and grunting, like Drakes grunts are any better. :/

btw...Price of Persia, the sands of time never gets any credit these IS the catalyst for all these type of games.

Prince Of Persia went down hill when they released the Forgoton Sands of time! Horrid game compared to all the others!

that they were drawing influence from Uncharted's atmosphere, as well as other games when it comes to some of the other elements of the new TR game.

BUT I have to agree with them. In the end, both are always very different experiences with a lot less in common than some people may want to believe.

I guess Xbox 360-only owners who were expecting an Uncharted-like experience will be disappointed. PS360 FTW!

You do know how big a franchise Tomb Raider was (and for how long) way before Uncharted ever came along right? People here seem to think Uncharted invented the type of action-adventure that the game features but it didn't, Tomb Raider was one of the first, if not the first, to do so.

firemassacre2662d ago

tomb raider is a great franchise, but uncharted is uncharted

JellyJelly2662d ago

Uncharted wouldn't be what it is if it wasn't for Tomb Raider. Nuff said.

Fanbot2662d ago

so? TR still sucks after 10 years.

'Uncharted wouldn't be what it is if it wasn't for Tomb Raider. Nuff said.'

thank ND Uncharted DIDNT copy any of the last tomb raiders and maybe more credit should be given to indiana jones. People cant deny that uncharted is currently better than tomb raider no matter where its influences came from or you might as well dismiss 80% of the games you love this gen. The e3 demo looked good and the reboot has definitely put TR back on my radar. Luckily for me ill be grabbing both. Ive been doing that all gen IF the alternatives are any good

Tomb Raider is puzzle solving adventure. Uncharted is Hollywood action adventure movie. Two very different games(similar premise but vastly different gameplay) up until now, with this Tomb Raider reboot appearing to be going the Uncharted route.

So give Uncharted credit where due and recognise that its success is changing the Tomb Raider series into copying it instead of the typical, "derp tomb raider came first" nonsense.

@why o why - exactly. Indiana Jones is the obvious comparison. But even then, the Indiana films are inspired and influenced by old B movie action scenes. How far back do we want to take this? Check out AVGN doing the action scenes in the Indiana Jones films that were completely taken from the older films.

@fanbot - tomb raider doesn't suck. If you're not into puzzle games fair enough, but that doesn't mean every game must be an action game because you like it that way.

gaffyh2662d ago

Tomb Raider isn't a completely bad game, but it's just not as good as it originally was when the first game released. This one looks different though.

TheBatman_Fanatic2662d ago

Uncharted is WAY better than Tomb Raider, get over it lol

joydestroy2662d ago

you're right, Tomb Raider takes it back. but the amount of time they had to fix it and make it more accessible is ridiculous. they have yet to improve it, imo.

Uncharted came in and stole the show when it comes to those types of games. i always tried to get into Tomb Raider but never could. i hope they've improved their formula but i doubt it. i'll give it a rent when it comes out but i have low expectations.

ainsz2662d ago

But we're all forgetting one game!

... Unearthed.

I hope they totally re-invent the series. I'll probably get disagreed with for this, but I hated the originals. Ugh, just so tedious!

kudakadere2662d ago

who care's whether Uncharted took on the idea of Tomb Raider , people must know that the original Tomb Raiders where a Sony made inversion so really instead of complaining and arguing people should congratulate sony .

lastdual2662d ago (Edited 2662d ago )

Actually, the original Tomb Raider was released first on Saturn and PC, then on PS1. It was originally planned as a Saturn exclusive and later went multiplatform.

Vega752662d ago

i was going to say the samething but you beat me to it. so why would anyone have to thank sony for it's not like they owned Crystal Dynamics or the IP

nightmarex1212662d ago

Yeah it was a multiplatform game but i think everyone assume it was on sony exclusive well b/c it sold the most on playstaion but back then psx games were the cheapest they were around 10-30 bucks compare to the competition.

kramun2662d ago

Yeah, Tomb Raider has nothing to do with Sony.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi2662d ago

She grunts too much. Other than that I'm looking forward to the experience. The E3 demo was good.
