AAG's James Gott writes: "So continues the F.E.A.R. series full of horror and frights and amazing FPS action, will this instalment of F.E.A.R. be as enjoyable as the first two games? Will Day 1 Studios be able to deliver an exciting instalment of the F.E.A.R. series taking over the reins from Monolith Productions? Read our review to find out."
DualShockers Writes "F.E.A.R. 3 (or F.3.A.R. if you’re a marketing executive) isn’t a great singleplayer game. It’s fine, competent even, but Day One Studios had an unenviable task in trying to wrap up Monolith’s F.E.A.R. series. With two timelines and two highly different styles of horror attempted in its wake, F.E.A.R. 3, well, it tries its best."
F.E.A.R. 3 wasn't even really a horror game when it came to the campaign. It was a good action game, but lost just about all of its horror roots along the way.
There have plenty of great horror games, but others haven't been so lucky as to stick around. They deserve to get a new lease on life.
That was probably the first time ever that I saw Castlevania in a list of horror games.
ps: Be warned, you have to click a lot to see every game in the list. I stopped after the 4th time.
What is divergent co-op and how could more games benefit from it?
It's an all right game. Def a rent, though. Picked it up around 1pm Saturday and did coop with a buddy and we had it beat by 8ish that evening.
There is no fear factor whatsoever. I guess if you play alone, coming down off a coke bender, with Dr. Dre headphones on it might make you jump a bit....
Pretty standard FPS in regards to level design and controls. Very limited weapons with no customization at all. Graphics are bland, a mech here or there to kind of keep you interested and that is about it.
In coop one person plays as a regular soldier and the other as your brother who has no weapons but can possess enemies for a spell and then use their weaponry. It works pretty good.
It's worth renting for the achievements/trophies and playing with a friend.
double post.
