Michael Beattie will not be returning to reprise his role as Mordin Solus in Mass Effect 3.
Yeah that definitely wasn't Mordin's voice from ME2 in the ME3 E3 demos. To be honest, I don't think this new voice is anywhere near as good - doesn't have the same ending tone, even.
It's not even close
He's just not the same Mordin. I watched the E3 demos again and it sounds like this new guy is trying far too hard to mimic Michael Beattie's version, making it sound a bit like a cheap knock-off.
Star Wars, Halo and Mass Effect need to come together in one universe.
The game just got delayed, now this? BS! He was one of my favourite characters in the main story :(
The voice in the E3 demo was Mark Meer (male shep) doing a placeholder voice for Mordin.
That's really disappointing... He felt like a joke character at first but he turned out to be one of the most well written characters in the game. And to just change the voice will just kinda change it. It worked in inFamous 2 cause Cole 1 was a somewhat flat character and felt more well rounded in 2. But to change after ME2 will be hard.
This is a real shame. Mordin was my favourite. Don't like this new voice. Not one bit
I got to agree Michael Beattie voiced Mordin soooooo much better than this new voice. The part when you can get him to sing in ME2 had me LMAO.
POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOO! :(
My Mordin was the only character that died on the final mission of ME 2 and the one that I most wanted to live :(
If your going to recast someone do something like Suckpunch did for inFAMOUS...I didn't even notice the voice change most of the time.
I hate when games, animes, movies do this because most of the time the new voice sucks compared to the original. The only change I enjoyed was Cole for Infamous because I hated the original Cole voice.
it's a shame mordin had a nice aura and i thought the voice actor did a good job on the character .... they better not change the voice of my assasin next ...
Funny I didn't actually realize they had changed voice actor, but after paying attention I can tell it is different. Bummer really :/ he did a fantastic job in ME2. Why wouldn't they recast him???
But his old actor was the very model of a scientist salarian!... 's voice.
Bioware fail #946734 Stop changing what isn't broken. The new voice actor isn't going to get you any more Call of Duty fans buying your game. First they replace Jack Wall for the soundtrack, now this. Ugh.
That's terrible terrible news. He'll never be the same. I noticed his voice in an instant wasn't the same in the demo but someone assured me it could have just been a placeholder. Man this sucks. Also for anyone wondering it seems the URL has changed to this: http://thegamingliberty.com...
OK, to clear this up, Mordin has NOT been officially recast. The quote says that Beattie simply hasn't been contacted yet, not that he isn't going to be in the game, and there's still 9 months until the game came out. Bear in mind that in an interview about 3 or 4 months before ME2 released, Keith David (Anderson) said that he hadn't been contacted yet, yet he was in the game. In short, the article jumps to conclusions, doesn't read it's own interviews properly and has an incredibly misleading title. Sure, there's a chance he might have been recast, but this is no conformation of it, simply speculation dressed up as fact. End of.
They will get him to be the voice of Mordin. Don't fret young ones. Bioware won't screw that up.
