"Activision's E3 2007 press conference was full of interesting announcements. There's a chance, however, that you don't remember many of those announcements. In fact, there's a huge chance that the only parts of Activision's conference you remember is the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare part and the host Jamie Kennedy intoxicated.
Kennedy was all over the place, literally. Stumbling around the stage looking for the teleprompter that was in-front of him the whole time, Kennedy's poor choice of jokes, awkward moments, being called out by the audience, and even made fun of by one of the developers on stage, Activision's E3 2007 event was one that even the publishing giant itself was trying not to look at -- presumably.
Four years later, it seems as though Kennedy hasn't gotten over the incident. Over on Twitter, the comedian lashed out at Michael Pachter and former Editor-in-Chief of PC Gamer Gary Whitta after they began discussing who out of Mr. Caffeine --from Ubisoft's E3 conference this year-- and Jamie Kennedy was the worst E3 host of all time (Jamie Kennedy's Tweets have been left unedited)."
According to a developer working on the title, Activision is working on a narrative-based open-world game based on a new engine through its new studio.
It was recently revealed in an exclusive episode of the 'Grit' podcast that EA once passed up acquiring Blizzard, Activision, and Call of Duty.
Only a big company that has interest in gaming like Microsoft or Tencent could have acquired Activision. Extremely low interest rates at that time certainly helped.
Not exactly sure that a merger with EA would’ve benefited any of their franchises or gamers. I imagine it would’ve been like the activision blizzard one were each publisher retains their own identity. So Activison-Blizzard-EA. But who knows.
If it was owned by EA, COD could’ve disappeared a looong time ago. They have no clue how to manage franchises.
Activision has announced a one million dollar donation to L.A. fire relief.
Nicely done Activision. Every penny counts. My family is in one of the areas that burned down so any and all donations are appreciated.
Donations during are much needed, and should be applauded. Every bit counts.
But for context… individuals like Beyonce donated $2.5m, Jamie Lee Curtis $1m
Also there was an interesting donation incident during the China Henan floods. Erke the Chinese sports brand was seeing RMB60m (about $8.5m) losses during the 1st quater of 2021. Despite that donated RMB50m (about $7m) for the henan floods that year. The Chinese public upon learning this, worrying about Erke’s survival and showing appreciation, started to purchase Erke products en masse. As a result Multiple Erke shops ran out of stock, the erke live stream sales in 2 days exceeded the company’s sales for the first half of 2021.
So those are the makers of COD. Good to know.
Wtf i thought they had monkeys working over at Activision since most of their games are crappy :D???
Nothing wrong with having to get drunk to build up some courage.......just not too drunk.
