Siliconera: XCOM, the 2012 reboot from Bioshock developer 2K Marin, is a first person shooter with tactical elements. Time units are still in the game, but work differently.

From the *new* Xcom franchise. The original was developed by Julian Gollop and Mythos games. He is currently in charge of Snapshot games and his latest take on Xcom was Phoenix Point.
I'm all for more tactics games. played Phoenix Point on Game Pass (ended up purchasing it), it's good...but doesn't have that same XCOM 2 feeling. Would love to see what these guys have to offer

They probably agreed to switch the perspective since the last 3 or 4 X-Com games were not good.
I think everyone is just remembering the FIRST X-Com game, which was awesome. All the sequels were pretty bad. This will just be another bad sequel, although from another perspective and hopefully not as frustrating.
IMO the terrible sequels ruined the "legacy" - in truth there was only ever ONE good X-Com game out of the 4 or 5 they've made so far.
