Gamertag Radio writes: "Bioware has sent an email out to customers informing them that their site has been hacked."

who the F*** is hacking all of these sites
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They are hard to catch because they are ninjas but I hear that the UN is going to set Shredder on their asses. Damn turtle hackers.
Funny. But you should have stop at "Because they are ninjas" or possibly add "and they live in sewers" Darn these guys.. its going to take several of them being caught before this slows down. Remember the uptake in high school related threats after the Columbine High School massacre? (I hate to bring that up). It took several years of prosecutions and infused education for 'at risk' parents and students to fully grasp the concept of risk and punishment associated with such actions. Life valued discussion (as a preventive measure) early in child/teenage development can go a long way. Lets hope that parents are more involved in their children's computer activity and political activism.
Nah I think I where I went with it was enough. It probably isn't smart to compare some fat, smelly man-boys hacking websites to a child murderer.
You're missing my point. It may be extreme but never the less true. Continued publicized prosecution coupled with parental involvement/education is the only thing that will slow this trend. (by the way may second point wasn't directed at you in general :) ) You still get props for the TNT reference!
..... get your self together DC1!
Although bringing up Columbine is a touchy kind of subject, I see how it is similar. Kids think they are untouchable and once a few are caught and full prosecuted/convicted then I see this hacking "fad" starting to not be so popular.
We could also kill all children and then the problem would be solved. Why has nobody thought of this? /s I think World War 3 will be a hacking war rather than a nuclear war. The War of the Nerds!
Aztec:Prophet! We have been Compromised. Prophet: What have you got? Aztec:KPA Prophet:Ok stay low profile Aztec:Prophet! we are not alone out here Porphet:What have you got Aztec:Matamuzinima! Matamuzinima!!!!!!! Prophet help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hacking other companies was a crappy retarded thing for them to do, but hacking BioWare? Now they've gone to far! There will be so many people ready to sell them out!
Random people. It happens all the time. A lot of time criminal hackers employ scripts just to scan entire ip blocks to find computers that are vulnerable usually older versions with known problems. Once you have been identified, it is as easy as pie to get in!
guys we found the hacker
I don't care who is hacking the sites, it's just getting damn annoying. Every other day now I see a story about a site or something getting hacked.
We need to call captain planet, quick where's that black guy at with his unique ring? "Let our powers combine!" (p.s For Captain Gamer, I nominate Kevin Butler despite him being with Sony)
just got a bioware email or EA in this case about the this and they changed my password to it so i went ahead and reset the password to something else
How the hell did this get approved? This is duplicate news from news a week old. http://n4g.com/news/787787/... Though it seems to be a new email message so did they take another security step by changing people's passwords? In either case, hardly news.
these hackers really want to get hired badly.
I tell you what, if we have learned anything we know they dont bluff and not to mock them. another thing we learned, every company should be re checking security immediately for holes and ensure they are as safe as they can be. If I was Nintendo or ms etc. I would have immediate meetings with my infrastructure and security teams and make sure we are doing all we can
MS Already has - Stepto talks about it all the time on Twitter, his blog and the Major Nelson Podcast. Also, on the Giantbomb podcast he was a guest and talked a little about it.
wow i cant even put it into words how ridicules this is getting
lol this comment works on so many levels
face palm* i didn't even notice my own miss spell but it does work lmao
It is ridiculous and annoying really. To bad the hackers don't have fun playing games instead they have fun by hacking whatever they want. What is next? The internet itself? Wouldn't be surprised really haha.
I know sh*t is getting old, these guys just need to give it a rest already
Ridicules? Any relation to Hercules?
This is OLD.
All of us at N4G should learn to Hack. We could counter this stuff, even attack rival game sites and be like über 1337!1!! /s
Yea good luck with that. The only thing the n4g community can do is hate and type.
It's just Bioware, so it's ok.
At least they were honest and admitted it to their users. Unlike SOME major companies we know.
Thats for Dragon Age 2, mess up my Mass Effect 3 and you'll have more hacks coming
Mess up ME3 and no one would care about them as a company any more... they know the ramifications of screwing up ME3 you would think...
By the time ME3 comes out LulzSec will be served up on a silver platter and all the other dweebs out there trying to play copy cat will be on the super down low. Anybody who wants to follow in their footsteps is more than welcome to. They'll be made examples of as well.
And people thought it was only Sony.....
Sony was just the biggest one, total meltdown, PS3's RROD.
I still could play, watch, listen to games, music and movies while PSN was down. So where is your PS3's RROD coming from?
@ MrSancho1 He is talking metaphorically, not literally....duh.
No matter how many companies get hacked or how much info is taken, there's always someone there to remind you that Sony's was the biggest. So cute. Shouldn't be happening in the first place, to anyone.
Very true gameAR. This shouldn't happen to *anyone*.
Damn not too long till they hack MS.
Honestly at this point if video game devs haven't upped their security then there is a problem on their end and they should be blamed. Its obvious these guys are targeting video game sites, so there isn't an excuse. As for everyone else, they have yet to "hack" anything important the only thing they are doing is making more restrictions on the average user more apparent.
Truthfully, there shouldn't be a need for security at all - there shouldn't be assholes that feel the need to exploit anyone for anything. Retarded to the Nth degree. I hate some people on the internet.
Thats the kind of world we live in. We hath to deal with it.
This whole hacking thing is so out of hand now, everyone is trying to make a name for themselves Lulzsec was just hacked. What's worse is no one knows who belongs to what group of hackers.
LulzSec members are pretty well known. Sabu Topiary JoePie Kayla Redacted Neuron Barret Brown Nakomis Avunit There are more, some are main members and others are just helping a little bit. There are IRC logs from the HBGary hack showing they used to be from Anonymous. And to be clear, they HAVE been documented. Names, addresses, FaceBook and youtube accounts, all that nice stuff. Imagine what info the anti-LulzSec hackers must have, considering LulzSec doesn't really hack (lol public tools and DDoS)
Old news is old, I submitted this same story 8 days ago... http://n4g.com/news/787787/...
i hope they do i hadnt with us being hacked between sony and now bioware and ea ,i wish they leave all company us alone go attck terroist
its not old new i had resetting my ea account ,i playing generation i went share memory my password wouldnt work ,i got ea male from ea and bioware they been hacked since bioware connected to ea they changed my password to
To people saying 'old news', the email was sent to everyone it seems today since I only got mine today. Last week I think they only sent the email to the people who were on the old forums they noticed were hacked or whatever it was.
Surely something has gotta change with the internet in general? I know it's a dangerous place, but it seems no-one is safe now-a-days. Conspiracy theory.... Some government or large corporation is doing this (or is funding hackers to do it) so that WE will demand a major shake up of the internet, making it more regulated, controlled and secure.
I THINK ITS THE ALIENS DOING IT!
What are these hackers problem?? Their doing this for revenge! Revenge for all the rejection they got from society! Revenge for standing alone at the Punch bowl while everyone else had a date to dance with at the prom!
Pretty much this. Every hacker I've ever known is a smelly angry sociopath. Call me out for stereotyping if you wish, but this is true of EVERY hacker I've personally met. And yes, they all do smell and are greasy. ...and usually wear army fatigues.
yeah... I'm sure you know LOADS of hackers... *rolls eyes* take a bath yo
"Bioware Admits Website Hacked" They never denied it. From @biofeed "Please Read: 18K Neverwinter Nights forum accounts hacked: http://bit.ly/iCTcZg #bioware 8:08 AM Jun 16th via TweetDeck"
Don't you guys find it odd that nothing microsoft related is being hacked?
Probably the same guy(s) who hacked Sony and everywhere else..
I am sure its only a matter of time before all efforts are aiming at Microsoft to hack their systems. Probably already under way. One day soon we will see a small group of people handed some stiff penalties and judgements that will slow down this "hacking fad" pretty quickly. Nothing teaches these kiddies a lesson like jail time - see LOA out of Florida from a while back.
If you knew how easy it is to hack these websites you would not be impressed at all. The security on most of these sites have not been updated in years.
I got an email last night too. This is getting stupid.
Just got my email saying they were hacked... lovely.
Lets hope they hacked the crappy kinect stuff from ME3 and hacked a good story and gameplay into DA3.
F U HACKERS!!!!!!!!!!!! MY INFO WAS ON THE BIOWARE SITE!!!!!!!!
OBAMA IS HACKING ALL THE SITES!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Surely the Hacker(s)leave traces of there activity? Is there not a paper trail to follow?
