Kid punches Mom in face over Halo 3

A young child has been accused of punching his mother in the face as she forced him to cut his game short on Sunday night and then fought with the police as they tried to restrain him. The parents told deputies that their son was playing Halo 3 late at night and they said he needed to turn it off, but the child refused to switch off the machine so his parents took action and the child went nuts and gave his mother a good thump.

On a more serious note though, this is ridiculous.
If I were his parents, I'd let him spend a night or two behind bars, and I'd smash his XBOX right in front of him with a sledge-hammer. Kid's crazy because these parents probably let him play video games for 10 hours a day, and he sounds like he can't be older than 10-12. Just end his gaming life for a good while, and see if he can get his act together. Craziness...

Parents let their kids play violent games that they are not old enough to play and wonder why they act out in violence when they are told to stop. This is what boggles the mind. The sad part is there are more kids (-17) playing Halo 3 online (M rated game) than adults.

This is kind of scary. What a lot of people don't realize is that this kid could be on the road to killing someone. He has a serious anger problem and the parents didn't take care of it early enough. Who calls the police on their child for hitting them? Beat his a$$. When I was growing up if I had hit my mom I wouldn't be breathing. There is a serious lack of discipline these days. THIS is why there is a RATING system in the first place. Last I remember, a rated M game (like halo) is NOT meant for kids.

Parents should not be buying their children games that are rate M. It's made for someone 17 and up, not for little Timmy whose testicles have yet to descend. Parents these days just aren't smart enough or care anymore. "Oh mommy, I really want this game, can you buy it for me PLEASE". I'm in College to become a doctor, I have alot to learn still, and I'm very far from being a Dr. at this point.l but, I think I can give at the very least, my opinion for you guys to think about. Kids Copy behavior, I don't believe they do from video games, but, from the adults in their life. If your kid does something violent, you should not respond with violence. Because, kids emulate behavior much more efficiently than they do to talking. So, when your kid commits an act of violence, and you respond with violence, that tells the kid that Violence is OK if you think you have good reason. You can't teach a kid to be non-violent when his role models are often violent. I wouldn't say I was against spanking (unless that spanking causes bruises.) Hitting your kids inappropriately can cause them to withdraw, and become angry. It's natural to be very angry when Violence is used against you. So this just pushes the child back further. Your sending a message that Violence solves problems, and that is rarely the case. This kid needs to go to a Psychiatrist. It's Possible he's Bi-Polar, or, if he's been abused, It's very likely that the child will become violent and start off killing small animals. Without Medical intervention, the child could cause his personality to disassociate, Which is the road that leads to the creation of a Sociopath. I don't believe video games effective normal kids, however, this kid should stay away from as much violence as possible and in this case, I don't think he should be spanked at all. It's like saying to the kid "You shouldn't have hit that person, but you did, so I'm going to do it to you, even though it's wrong. kids appropriate behavior from their role models, much more than just talking. Also, it's absolutely neccessary that when you give him his non-violent punishment, DO NOT GIVE IN. Whatever you said you would do, don't back down. If he doesn't believe you'll follow through, then, it's not a deterrent. If I were his parent, I would get him psychiatric help and show him as much love as possible, also, If I had a child and his behavior changed radically I would take notice and look for signs of abuse. This is My opinion, I AM NOT A DR. NOTHING I SAID Should be taken as medical advice, or even regular advice, it is nothing more than an opinion. Before making any kind of change which effects the body, consult an actual Dr. I'm barely into the med school and therefore my OPINION may be incorrect. SO please do not take my opinion about what I would do to my son if I had one as advice. My philosophy is, when in doubt don't spank, if you do spank, do not do it when your angry.
