Sony Said to Be Pondering Partial Sale of Movie Units

Sony Pictures Entertainment is considering selling half of its fledgling animation studio, maker of the films "Surf's Up" and "Open Season," and even more of its thriving 15-year-old digital visual-effects company, which pioneered computer-generated imaging techniques in films like "Stuart Little," "The Polar Express" and the "Spider-Man" movies.

Not included in the sale discussions is Sony Online Entertainment, the maker of multiplayer interactive computer games like Everquest.

The story is too old to be commented.

Sony should just sell their gaming division.. Oh wait since its losing money that bad I don't think anybody would touch that!

@Sonus- Dont matter how much they lose in the gaming division! they still have a monopoly in the PC market!

^^^ this have noting to do with sony gaming division or the ps3

Twizlex4871d ago

It has to do with the industry as anything Sony as a whole does financially affects the gaming division. Less movie studios means less Blu-Ray exclusives means less uses for that Blu-Ray player in your PS3. It's all related, friend.

What are you talking about troll? You wish that was true huh? Too bad they still own Columbia, Tri Star, Sony Pictures and MGM. Selling HALF of 1 animation studio does not effect Blu Ray and every company that is behind Blu ray and the fact the WORLDWIDE....Blu Ray is destroying HD DVD.

What are YOU talking about? I never said any of that. I was just explaining how if Sony sells something, ANYTHING, it affects the PS3 because it affects Sony as a whole, and obviously the PS3 will go down if Sony goes down. I'm not saying it will, I'm just explaining how it's related. Jeez, somebody woke up on the wrong side of the fanboy this morning.

Obviously if anyone here is a troll, it's you, Mr. One Bubble.
