Why The Redner Group's Statements Are Threatening to Smaller Sites

"Last night began with the best intentions to put the finishing touches on a review I started over the weekend, but an unexpected bout of writers block led me to derping around on Twitter until I felt more clear headed. While scrolling through a lengthy wall of text, I came across an update that caught my eye. A gaming blogger I followed retweeted a message from Santa Monica, CA based PR agency, The Redner Group, who appeared unhappy with the poor scores and biting criticism various websites were bestowing on Duke Nukem Forever, a product they promoted in the US for client, 2K Games. While I find it somewhat unprofessional for a PR agency to air their grievances via social media, what really struck a cord with me was the tweet that read “…too many went too far with their reviews… we r reviewing who gets games next time and who doesn’t based on today’s venom.” Never has a statement written in 140 characters or less left me feeling so agitated by its implications." -Roboawesome.com

nice job Redner Group....

dude_meister2685d ago

The stupidest thing he did was tweet it, if he didn't, he would have had no problems.

gaffyh2685d ago

True, but the fact that he did it, means he deserves to have been sacked. I mean, how stupid can you be?

I know there are a lot of blurbs flying around the internet about The Redner Group but if you run a "small time" video game website like I do you really need to read this article. It digs a little deeper I think at the underlying problem.

The article made some excellent points

Redner Group was let go from 2K for what they said. I think it's a disservice to consumers to give a game a score it doesn't deserve just because a PR agency is blacklisting sites. If a game sucks it sucks, simple as that.

Good move by 2K to sack them, shows that they actually do care about their image, and don't want it tarnished by a PR company

Especially with the quality of games they're putting out. Bioshock and the first Prey if I remember correctly. Sure - every once in a while you get a dud - it's nothing for a PR agency to get bent out of shape over though.

Redner are so stupid... they got their biggest client to sack them.
