Super Mario 3DS Is Like Mario Bros. 3 in a 3D World (Hands On) - RipTen

KNF of RipTen: Super Mario for the 3DS is one of my most anticipated 3DS titles. It’s no secret that Mario is my favorite Nintendo franchise as it’s the game series that got me into Nintendo in the first place.

Can't wait to get this game! Mario 3 style game in a 3D world! WOOO!

jaredhart2680d ago

And Part 3 is one of the best!!

Nostradavis2680d ago

Know why they call this the 3-DS? Because Nintendo releases the same game over and over so many times that you own 3 copies of it. ZING!

fluffydelusions2680d ago

I haven't played every single Mario game out there but SMB3 and SMW on SNES were my fav.

"Nintendo releases the same game over and over"

Like every damn company who has a sucessful series. Every one. Dont blame them because the put out gold most of the time

I'm not complaining. As long as they stay consistenly awesome, there ain't nothing wrong with it.

do you ever NOT edit your post lolz

Hitman07692680d ago

Not really sold on this being relevant to gaming any more.

VampiricDragon2680d ago (Edited 2680d ago )

you dont know what relevant is kid, theres not one series as critically/financially acclaimed, with games in differeng genres that are all gold.

This game comes from the team with the 2 highest rated games of the gen. With sales of over 10 million. You tell me whats relevant

despair2680d ago

I kinda agree with Hitman, its not really much different from things we've played over and over again. People keep defending the classic nintendo titles because they or rather we grew up on them.

But fundamentally they are the same games we've played dozens of times and at some point a proper evolution of the series is needed not just increments and sometimes complete regression.

I like many grew up on the mario series, mario 3 is my favorite one ever and I don't see the relevance of this game other than the 100th play by nintendo on nostalgia and milking the franchise.

There are the great Mario games but nowadays they make them just for the sake of it with the rare Mario Galaxy in there.

fluffydelusions2680d ago (Edited 2679d ago )

Newer generations might not have played them plus if they still are selling well why not keep making them, particularly if they are so highly rated (see SMG2)?

despair2679d ago (Edited 2679d ago )

The "newer generations did not play them" is a weak argument, by that reasoning every decent game that was ever released should be remade, and then 10 years after the remake was released a remake of that should be released.

If you missed a great game then go find an old system, a emulator or find someone who has a copy and play it, why should everyone get kept back by devs milking old games.

It just as you said, they are still selling so they keep making them. But many people, especially reviewers dwell on nostalgia and familiarity with these series and over rate them. SMG2 was a good game and justified most of the high scores, but many others don't deserve the praise they get.

I've grown tired of the same nintendo games being released; I would definitely like to see some new ip's for the 3ds. I haven't picked my 3ds up in months; I need something new to play.

user8586212680d ago

I think 3rd parties ar more likely to bring out new I.P's then nintendo prime example is level 5
