Yeah, I would agree with that since Capcom should appear on the list. And though SCE is larger, Nintendo has been around for way longer and has too many classics to list.

They helped usher in the subgenre of the open world free roaming sandbox games with GTAIII (even though Driver 2 did it somewhat). So yeah they might be in, just like Capcom changing fighting games forever with StreetFighter and DMC reshaping action games.

It's the fact that they've only been around for 8 years.

Konami was founded in 1969.

yeah, i'm surprised that blizzard hasn't shown up yet. they definitely deserve to be included in a 10 ten dev list. almost every game they've touched has been pure gold.

but its great to see konami make the list. (duh) now give me my ZOE3

I wouldn't at all be surprised if Nintendo is #1 due to Zelda, Mario and Metroid. SCEA will probably be up there for God of War and Capcom will be there for basically making the 2D fighting genre not to mention making the Survival Horror genre.

it was there before with games like Alone in the Dark. Capcom sort of gave it a name, revolutionized it, and made it mainstream. Either way, Capcom, I think is the most deserving because all their games are diverse.

if I said Bungie should be number one, so I'm going to refrain from expressing my opinion about that and say congrats to these hard working people like Nintendo and Capcom and Konami for delivering the best of gaming, well deserved.

not everything is about consoles, MGS has been around for longer than people think and are the popularizers of PC gaming, making is a suitable platform for developers, offering tools like direct X, creating software like frameworks and xna, and the first to try motion sensing(wingman). Not to mention consisting of some of the most beloved titles of all time.

The Matrix (ala Shadowrun)

Originally, direct neural interface technology enabled humans and metahumans to directly access computers and the Matrix, the global computer network restructured after the 2029 Crash. Access to the Matrix was accomplished by "deckers": individuals that have cyberdecks which are futuristic equivalent to modern day laptop computers. These interface machines are connected to the brain through a Datajack generally located at the temple or behind the ear. (The "behind-the-ear" jack was most common with Riggers - vehicle and drone specialists - who required better connection with the motor centres of the brain, rather than to the higher brain functions.) The "deck" would then be plugged into a port that is connected to the wider Matrix . The Matrix was originally based on ideas by William Gibson and the cyberpunk literary genre.

In Shadowrun 4th edition, the Matrix rules have changed, thanks to the setting's constant evolution and a drive to match real world technological developments. After the second Matrix crash in 2064, Matrix technology was moved away from the wired network and led into a wireless technology. This technology was originally proposed in the early 2060s by Transys Neuronet and Erika, now part of NeoNET.

The most noticeable difference between the Matrix in the 2070s and the earlier editions is that wireless technology has become completely ubiquitous. Communications and Matrix access is provided through wi-fi nodes placed thoughout the infrastructure of just about every city on Earth, fulfilling a service similar to contemporary cell towers - but as these nodes are as numerous as telephone poles, only a tiny percentage of their range is necessary. The use of the term 'Matrix' in the Shadowrun game to refer to an immersive virtual world predates its use in the popular feature film The Matrix. Yeah the old one on SNES/Genesis was good and I like the world they created for the PnP stuff, but I don't know what happened with this one.

which caused them to drop the single player, specially with their focus on pc - xbox.

I think they also tried to satisfy two nearly completely opposing groups, console shooters and pc shooters are far to different and what ended up happening is that neither crowd were satisfied. Plus the price was a bit to high, and people were still playing halo 2 and gears, while waiting for halo 3. The game is really fun it's just not finished.

the fact is MGS still own the IP and also have a lot of other arsinal in their bag, without MS i don't think PC gaming would have ever taken off to what it is now.

firstly, if they're giving an award to Konami, it should be a joint one to Konami and Treasure.

Konami has Kojima, who made Snatcher, which is an amazing game. That alone makes them worthy to be on this list

Because although their catalog is small in comparison to other devs, I'd suggest Blizzard be within the top 3. Quality over quantity, you know, and IMO, they have NEVER released a crap game...NEVER.

Honestly I am thinking Capcom, Nintendo, and Blizzard. I don't think MS or Sony will be up there. Sure those two have had some bright lights but Nintendo is almost like the Grandfather of gaming. I know companies have come before them and I know that people paved the way for them. Though literally everyone knows what Nintendo is. So the number one spot should go to them. Not to mention it's my personal opinion that the greatest games that come out for their systems are made by them.

Capcom, number two will probably go to them. They have produced so many titles that everyone from average Joe who doesn't play video games knows at least one title they have put out. Normally if a game has Capcom's logo I generally am going to enjoy it. There have been a few rare occasions where I wasn't impressed with a Capcom game.

Blizzard I think will net the number three spot. Yes they have done wonders for the PC world but they haven't really done much for anything else. I know they had rock and roll racing and the lost vikings which don't get me wrong are personal favorites of mine. Though where they really shine are their golden children, Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo. These are for the most part PC exclusive and are must owns for anyone who considers themselves a PC gamer. I mean if you just hate the RTS and RPG genre then I guess you shouldn't own them, but if you even just slightly like them, they have to be in your collection.
